Ah, you're right, they are too, tried it with a Scotland card and it doesn't work on the full trick either. That's that theory out the window!

So bizarre, I think I get why a NI card works, I'm assuming it has something to do with the fact we already have BBC NI on our EPG's and it somehow is able to merge because of this commonality but a Channel Islands card, WTF??

All shall be revealed come the utv hd launch. I'm presuming it will be on a different frequency and will have to be stored in other channels.

My box updated through the night, I did have trick fully working now the epg won't change to the Irish epg rte is 161 bbc ni is 101 tv3 and 3e are missing but the rest are grand

What version is the box now? Very strange that the Irish epg won't load. A UTV card I presume?

I just booted box with Irish card and Irish epg loaded trick fully working again

It's the model number that changes. Mine is, R007.061.49.00P at the moment. The version number 4f3104 is on both my boxes and it never changed.

Phew!! That was a close one;);). One of my boxes has always been a bit sluggish to come to life after the card trick is done. I just keep pressing 501 until I get a picture, sometimes putting it into standby leaving it for a few minutes and starting it up again gets it sorted.
If you get a chance could you post what version of epg the box was updated to last night.

I'm waiting for the deal on the HD channels to run up (the day of UTV HD launch :eek: :pac:). I have a UTV card, with the full trick... does the box jump back to the sky intro channel like what happens behind the blue button?

No, with the UTV card you will get the full trick epg. Pressing 103 will give you UTV which will work exactly the same way as any of the other channels. I'm waiting patiently for my HD channels to finish, (12th Oct) to finally get back to the full trick epg. Really fed up of that bloody channel 998.

I've just re-read your post. Do you mean when the HD is switched off will the box revert to the dreaded 998? I'm wondering that myself, it didn't revert to 998 when the HD was activated. I don't think it really matters because when it reverts to the SD epg the card trick will have to be done to get the channels back in place.

Yeah I was just wondering when the channels are on the EPG ... (UTV on 103) does it still kick back to 998 like what happens when we are using the blue button method of recording?

I have a utv card and while its a hd box I use im not subscribed to hd so the channels are obviously in sd and I think it only ever went to 998 once on me over the last 6 or 8 months

I don't see why the 998 thing should be an issue, the blue button trick need only be used to make recordings, and the channels can be watched via other channels without interruption.

The 998 isnt an issue for me at all. I have the various ITV channels,channel 5 etc on the EPG and all work fine the same as any subscription channel.

Calamity this evening!! Was watching The guilty on ITV HD using the blue button when of course the bloody rainforests appeared(998).
No panic sez I we'll watch the recording. I switched to the planner and everything was progressing nicely until the last 20 mins when the TV went black as if the box was switched off/standby. The recording was continuing and the blue circle was still spinning but no bloody picture... Had to unplug the box to get a picture. I'm watching it on the +1 on other channels to get the ending!!
I wonder is it because it was on 998 in the "background" that it went belly up? I can't wait for the HD to disappear and get the proper epg again.

I have a similar problem happening with the recording light on and the blue circle spinning. I find if you leave the box running it will continue to record. Reset the box when the programme is finished.

Ok. It caused a bit of a panic as it never happened before. I'm waiting patiently for the hd to finish. Luckily I have a utv card which should give me the full epg.

After loading up with the ni card, give your irish card a good clean and insert it while the box is still on and tuned to 501. Its getting very tricky now. It seems to be harder and harder after each update.

Have to say that there are no issues with my CI card, once the UK EPG loads up I can insert my Irish card and it doesn't even reboot or go back to 998. I'm using an Amstrad DRX-890 in case that makes any difference.

Plug it out, put in the UK card, plug it back in, give it a few minutes to load up the UK EPG, put it on a UK on a channel like C4 HD or similar and then pull the UK card and insert the Irish one, I'll give it a minute and then all the channels are on the EPG.

What model version has your box updated to ? As the latest model version is R007.061.49.00P so it should not affect your card trick.

I might be wrong but I think you'll need a UTv card to get the channels on to the epg.

UTV card so EPG mate, no real point on you giving up HD without a UTV card because the blue button is as good as it gets.
