I'm not shocked at this at all.

What I don't get is how the fcuk she could never get clean. No doubt she had access to the best drug treatment in the world (bank rolled by her record company).

Another addition to the dead 27 year old musician club. Coincidence?

Im not heartless, far from it.
Nearly 100 people died in Norway yesterday, 11 died in a train crash in China today. Those people deserve sympathy, RIP threads and news coverage. Sadly, id wager a decent sum of money that there will be a tiny mention of the Chinese train crash on the news tonight whereas Amy Winehouse will get at least 10 minutes of people saying she was a "troubled genius"

I'd assume a little bit on its own doesn't, but its addictiveness is too intense so it's best avoided.

I just meant it doesn't make her a bad person or mean that we shouldn't feel sorry for her.

No one ever called her a bad person, please read peoples comments before you post bs. At the moment I am still in shock about Norway, where innocent teenagers died this girl put crack and heroin into her body and died. I wish it wasnt so but not much sympathy.

I don't know about that, actually. I can understand why people would feel little sympathy for her given how she lived her life. Many people struggle daily with fair greater 'demons' than Winehouse but don't give in to drugs and debauchery.

In any case, we still don't know what happened - so as I already said, it's probably best not to speculate.

I'm sure she never would have wanted to go down that far but perhaps she just couldn't cope any other way.

It does not make her bad person, just some-one who badly needed help and didn't get it.

    And that's her fault?

Alot of people care more about "celebrities" in this modern day world, its actually pretty sad.

In a music world of increasing unoriginality, she was a unique talent. Her last album was simply magnificent. Sadly the poor thing had too much darkness in her personal life, may she RIP.

    she didn't want it.
she went out of her way to tell people she didnt want their help...

I agree with much of what you say Sir.

I feel sorry for her family and friends and think they should be allowed to grieve before we disect the virtues, or lack thereof, of Amy Winehouse's lifestyle.

It's when people start using this RIP thread to grind their moral 'drugs are bad and I'm an angel' axe that gets me really fired up.

Thats true some drugs are bad not all. I bet you some stupid people will start saying her death is why hash is bad;)

I think that's fair enough given the circumstances.

Yes. There's way too much of a big deal being made of the 27 thing - it's interesting from a rock mythology perspective, and she was kinda old-skool and for me, as a persona, had echoes of Joplin and Billie Holiday, but I can't see how it would be anything more than a coincidence. She was nearly 28 anyway.

I'm pretty sure Amy Winehouse never hassled you in the street for money and that's who this thread is about.

Of course she did.....that's how addicts behave. Anyone who works with them and those who have recovered will tell you that.

Deep down they know they need help but for whatever reason they either won't admit until they hit rock bottom or they will never get the chance to admit it....like Amy.

every news channel is calling her a 'troubled singer'. I hate that phrase. 'Troubled' is when you check your bank balance or when you realise you've missed the last bus. It's lazy.

So, I have to choose who I feel sympathy for? And because other stuff happened that means others are less deserving of sympathy? WTF is going on with your logic?
