Fair enough. But he hit him or put his hand on his face or something so I don't know how it could be overturned really.

I'd be surprised to see it overturned, it was technically correct. Keane should have known better but I expected better from Murphy.

No, but what if somebody in the Mayo backline gets injured after 10 minutes? What if a 2nd Mayo defender gets injured after 30 minutes? Then, he is not there to come on. So, while not as catastrophic as a regular being sent off, it is still something that could potentially upset Mayo the next day.

He let his team down by reacting the way he did. And I have no idea why he was smiling when he saw the red card.

Red all day for me as well, Keane was beyond stupid. Big strong Michael Murphy crying to the umpire though?!

Had a great time in cusack yesterday. I was surrounded by donegal fans and I went fúcking apeshít after both goals. I saw the same section up for sale again (either 310 or 710), it's not the best view but being there is all that matters to me tbh.

One thing that bothered me was midway through the 2nd half when Donegal were lobbing it into Murphy. The defence dealt with it superbly, but when they took it out of defence they seemed to stop around halfway and pass it around. 17 minutes without a score until Andy slotted over that great score. They never really looked like succumbing to a comeback, but I felt there was space to exploit in the Donegal half.

It's not a major problem, but it bothered me in the context of the game

Lads, it was a red all day long, Kevin should know better and he has been on the road long enough. He hit him and thats it. He has to live with the fact he won't be playing now.

This. Knew as soon as I saw it that Kevin would be lucky to stay on. It was a definite red.

Was Keane marking Murphy in the 2012 final? That might have something to do with his smile. Except this wasn't the all Ireland final so it does seem rather odd.

Yep, he was marking him alright:

Notice there was a shove from Murphy after the goal was scored around 23 seconds in, no need for that at all. Incredible player, but a pure shîtebag when he wants to be. You can be sure the red card was over this goal, no matter who the instigator was.

Like them all! I wouldn't think much about that. That sort of thing has always been in the game. Just trying to psyche out an opponent in the opening minutes.

It might explain why Keane was laughing at hitting Murphy. But this wasn't the All-Ireland final. And Keane didn't even start this particular match anyway. Had he been, Murphy might have had a better day!

Yeah I think I was looking a bit too much into that alright. I do rate Keane though, I think he'd hold his own against Murphy in the system we used on Saturday. Still, there's an awful size difference between them, Murphy has pounds of muscle on Keane, so it would've been an intriguing battle.

I'm back in here a bit late, almost everything that needs to be said has been said already. But I just want to add that from where I was sitting in the lower Cusack, Tom Parsons had a massive game. Showed well for the ball, hard tackling, linked up well with the HBs and SOS. If Tom hadn't being playing so well for us in midfield would we be able to deploy AOS into the forwards and Barry Moran into the defense? Absolutely a key player for us now. Will need him and SOS on top form if we are to counteract Cluxton's kick-outs and win the breaks we need in midfield.

With our backs returning to their marauding form and AOS dropping back deep as needed we must be a very difficult team to set up against. Credit to Noel and Pat for giving the team the extra few layers needed, I had my doubts about how tactically astute they were during the league but they are showing themselves very much up to it at the moment.

In fairness to Keane he has bulked up quite a bit since 2012. I think he would hold his own against most players in the country. We needed him as an option against Dublin though, it's slightly worrying TBH.

Would anyone have Saturdays match recorded that I could get a copy of? If that's even possible.

It has no chance of being over turned now with all this furore over McCann.

Mayo need to go on and win an All Ireland now. This Mayo team are 5 years on the road now.

    That's said the whole time.

Every year is potentially Mayo's year, and rightly.

Ye're a good side and should be at the top table. The big fear I have is Mayo winning one and then cleaning up when the monkey is off their backs. (Be like the Yankees or the Giants or the Red Sox)

But please for the love of God, if ye beat us will ye not repeat 2006 in the final if ye play that shower from the south-west.

I don't think you'll find anyone disagreeing with you on that one ;)

I think the entire country (apart from a few obvious exceptions) would like to see Mayo finally make it over the finish line.

I'm based down in Limerick and there's a huge amount of goodwill (borderline pity) around for Mayo and our eternal quest for Sam

I'm looking for it also if there is anyone that had it.

I see the Rossies looking for a new manager. Evans could't handle the pressure of impending AI glory and had to extend his house to "all the cups in the dressing room" :D

Anyone know a straightforward, not too technical way to get a recording of the game off a sky box and on to a laptop?

The stench of "mutual consent" off that county board statement would flatten an Angus bull.

    You could try http://www.skycopyplus.co.uk/extract.php.

It works for FTA channels in the UK. Whether it works for the Irish FTA channels that are on the Irish Viewing card is another matter.

Scratch that. It was on Sky 5 so its flagged as encrypted and nobbled. So it wont work. It might have if it was a recording off RTE even on a Sky box.

Can it be played from the Sky box and recorded in real time on a DVD recorder?

Was told the last time the reek was closed for reek Sunday was '51. Spooky or what ;-)

Had to watch last week's game on TV and couldn't see a whole lot but got the impression of very well choreographed and strategic movement within the team, a huge improvement in team play imo. I can't wait for the semi.

This should be a pisheog free zone from now until when ever the season ends.

As you said the choreography and strategic movement was impressive.

It was very different from 2013 but equally impressive on so many levels.

It gives the impression that they have a tactical plan very well throughout and know how to execute it.

You would hope they have their planning for the Dubs spot on too.

Too right Father, absolute nonsense and only rightly gives some a stick to beat us with.
I saw it on Facebook that the Mayo News are reporting it that the Mayo County Board are going to appeal Kevin Keane's red card.Worth a try but I can't imagine they'll have a modicum of success.

Yea I can't see what the grounds for appel would be.
He clearly stuck or attempted to strike his opponent.

Unless its something totally obsucre like the refs report said that he "attempted to strike" and Mayo prove that he actually "struck" and get him off on the basis that the refs report is incorrect.

It's worth a shot at least, nobody thought Keegan would win his appeal last year and he did.
