Pretty poor form to question an amateur sportsman's personal circumstances from behind a keyboard don't you think??

Having said that, I can empathise with Hennelly's decision to step back from the panel.
He was putting in exactly the same commitment as Clarke but had little or no chance of dislodging him due the nature of the position (And Clarke's good form).

We should be glad to have him, if reports of Clarke's hamstring injury are true.

Con Mort walked away, but in fairness to Hennelly he was been put under pressure from work and at the end of the day work has to come 1st. He did answer the call when we go into trouble last year so he has to be commended for that.

No mention of either O'Malley or Clarke, who is the sub now?

Lost interest in the aforementioned ball game back in the 90's after 3 wooden spoons in a row;)

Caff is having a great game, keeping Hurley in check

Cork have been outscored by 1-9 to 0-1 in the last 25 minutes. Jason Doherty having one of those days all forwards love.

Mike Finnerty definitely had money on Doherty getting the first goal @ 14/1

What a score fest. Caught by the quick one two a few times also need to tighten up on the extra man marking, Aiden looked very wooden legged again I wonder is he injured, great to see good management changes ASAP and thought team looked very fit but may be overthinking a bit leading to a bit of a slow reaction at times. Huge crowd

Brilliant first half. Horan made too many changes too early in the second half though, Mayo looked very unsettled in the fourth quarter and conceded far too much. No faulting the team overall though, they absolutely made the most of their purple patches and it's great to see 4 different players getting goals

Going by that performance hopefully once feeney, cunnife, barry moran, barrett are back there should be a full panel worthy of game time by the all Ireland.. also the hole in the full back line will be patched up! Great game to be at, great atmosphere music crowd etc! Camt get over boyles hunger ! Happy out :)

Great performance after a slow start, bit disappointed they did'nt push on despite leading by 12 points at one stage.Amazing the amount of goal chances they had in the first half.

Good to see Jason Gibbons/Doherty play well. Hopefully can get more displays from the same two again. They may turn out to add a goal threat this season. Gibbons streaming through from midfield has resulted in two goals in the league.
Have we finally settled on a full back line?
Maybe Aos replaced by Sos should continue? Aidan can empty the tank just after half time. Seamus comes on for last 20 mins.
Freeman is converting his goal chances really well. Cillian looks to be up on form.

Well i didn't see that coming, hoped that the forward line was going to play hell with Cork but what could have happened in the AI final if freezer wasn't taken off/had to be take off, what ever the case. The guy is turning into a quality forward. Knowing our luck he will probably get injured!

After the 1st few scores I feared for us, Harrison was getting boiled in the corner.
I think Jason Gibbons made a serious statement yesterday up against a solid Cork midfield, was the best I have seen him in a Mayo jersey so he definitely didn't do himself any harm.
COC was superb, the guy just oozes quality and intelligence and him along with McLaughs who is coming more into his old form game by game causes a lot of problems for teams with their runs and passing.

Mickey Sweeney had a food game, will take time for him to settle so can't be judged too early, not sure where Conroy is going, he seems to be drifting out of the reckoning a bit, but early days.
Any idea what has happened to Andy? Is he becoming more of an impact sub?

Higgins, great as a 1/2 forward, but still wasted.

Defense did well as a whole, poor enough start but can't say too much, last goal for Cork was too soft though, need to be 100% clinical in games and close them out.

Overall we have to be happy with that, I think now we need to beat Dublin in order to get into the semi finals on the head to head.
I really think we need to push on now and aim to get to a league title.

Best wished to Cathal Carolan, was a great impact sub for us, will be a big loss

Come on Mitchels the county is well behind you!

Big loss with Feeney getting black card for Castlebar

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,073 ✭✭✭Shelflife

Stupid from Feeney, but why wasn't the Vincents player blackcarded for pulling down the Cbar player?

That's a disaster. Feel sorry for feeney, the referee could have given him a yellow and said that's your last warning.

Agreed on both accounts. He should have known better.

Ref bottled it on the dublin black card. In the rules it was actually more of a black

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,073 ✭✭✭Shelflife

Looks like he bottled another black card there for cbar after a deliberate trip

Spotted Cunniffe was body checked there at well on the 45, if he had gone down it was the same as Richie, so another black.

Needs to enforce the rules fully or forget about it.

I thought the one by the Vincent's corner back was borderline, Feeney's was textbook - unbelievably stupid thing for him to do. A pity for him to miss the rest of the game over something so silly.

  • Registered Users Posts: 17,770 ✭✭✭✭keane2097

Castlebar much the better team in the first half.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,530 ✭✭✭davegrohl48

Listening online but it seems like if Castlebar get their matchups a bit more solid then they are well able to score at the other end. Hell of a game so far.

Nothing to fear for Cbar yet. Need goals though but have performed very well.

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,073 ✭✭✭Shelflife

Cbar playing very well but need to cut out the silly mistakes leading to the goals.

Vincents allowed to gain a lot of ground running the ball out of defense.

Think Vincents goals could swing it, first 10 mins are going to be important though Cbar have through this whole championship been very good in 2nd halves.
