That reminds me of an ad I saw on Abu Dhabi TV where Persil were advertising a special washing powered for women to use to clean their hijabs - no joke, it's real, linked below:

'...Gives your hijab that deep, natural, longer lasting black look. With SpectraZorb(tm) - guards against sun fade. Be the envy* of your Koran study group!**'

    * Is envy a sin under Islam?

** Are women allowed study the Koran??

    Life ain't always empty.

Or... 'Persil. Your secret weapon. Don't tell his other wives..'

Is there a word for what women married to the same guy call each other? Co-marrieds? Wifisters?

    Life ain't always empty.

Here's a video to accompany your post.

So much respect for this author. There was a documentary on tv a while ago where she brought a camera crew to where she lived, before fame knocked on her door. It was a meek life, provided by the government (socialism to Republicans) Now look at where she is. Perfectly happy to pay taxes and give back.

Republicans would privatise libraries if they could. Says a lot.

    That is hilarious. :D

    Fox and friends gets punked.

I lost it when he took a slug out of his coffee. The interviewer reminds me of Lou Ferrigno.

Stupid times require stupid solutions, says Romney

    http://www.thedailymash.co.uk/news/international/stupid-times-require-stupid-solutions-says-romney-2012092742732
MITT Romney has relaunched his campaign with a direct appeal to America’s fundamental stupidity.

A new television advert shows the Republican candidate frowning at a quick crossword, laughing hysterically at Charlie Sheen’s new sitcom Anger Management and reaffirming his Mormonism.

Meanwhile, large-print newspaper ads will carry slogans including ‘Mitt Do White House Good’ and ‘Free Pizza’.

Speaking into a switched-off microphone in the wrong room of a conference centre in Canada, Romney said: “No other candidate feel your dumbness like I be.

“These are stupid times, with stupid problems that need stupid solutions from a stupid man.

“I will do the stuff you want, whatever it is you want. Even if you don’t know what you want, and I don’t know either.”

Romney then boarded a flight to Greenland which was forced to make an emergency landing after the candidate attempted to remove one of the windows with a spoon.

I'm off to bed shortly -- sleep's more fun than watching Romney attempt a mass debate.

And anyway -- from this week's New Yorker:

Even if Romney, as a mormon, is allowed a mass debate there's no way the FCC will let it be seen on live TV - is there??

    Life ain't always empty.

Didn't watch it (wwaaayyyyy past my bedtime) but apparently Romney came out on top, possibly by quite a high margin.

To be honest, I think this could be a good thing for Obama because in the next debate he'll hopefully be more on the attack, and Romney possibly shot his wad too early

Hopefully it is. I'm not Obama's greatest fan but I'd choose him over Romney any time. This election is pretty much there for him to take. I suspect he'll get a crash course in debating in the run up too the next debate.

Is it worth watching MM or will my eyes bleed from the effort?

I'm just about to sit down and watch it myself, I'll report back!

Just finishing up watching it now, a big fat meh from me. It's clear that Romney came out on top, Obama didn't do that well at all. The moderator was awful.

I'd say give the debate a miss and just read through the live commentary thread over on the US Politics forum to get a good idea of how it went.

When I started watching the debate the video only had 300 views, I refreshed it there and it's jumped up to 130,000.

I stayed up to watch the debate last night and, I have to say, I was surprised in many ways. Before last night I'd have said I thoroughly disliked Romney, but, having seen him in the debate, my dislike has lessened. He came across a lot warmer and more personable than usual — yes, this is only an act to win over yet more voters, I know. Last night he was the better debater, too, though considering how these debates work that isn't exactly saying much. I have to remind myself of his socially conservative stance inspired by his Mormonism — I cannot respect anybody who wears magic underwear — to stop my dislike lessening even more. I do prefer Romney's financial and economic positions over Obama's (an unpopular opinion, I'm sure), but his socially conservative nature, and his possible war-mongering ways (less subtle than Obama's) mean, if I were American, I'd still vote for Obama.

It wasn't a particularly exciting debate, so I wouldn't recommend another to watch it unless they had very little else to do. The foreign policy debate should make for far more entertaining viewing (I hope).

I hope that Romney wins. I need something to bitch, moan and complain about. A good war or two on TV will also be interesting.
