E46 failed nct. Electrical system 49 risk of short circuiting offside front and nearside dip beam. Steering linkage 43 rack and pinion leaking. I didnt take the car down myself so i dont know what was said about lights. I do know that the ballast boxes are all out of position from when they were first installed so i need to fix that but can you level angel eyes like normal headlights? I have to go down later with the e30 so ill find out what was said then if i can.

What did the e30 fail on?

Exact same leak as the e46. Also got to speak to the tester about the lights. He says the way they are wired is not safe. He could move the wires and the lights went on and off apparently. The old dipped bulbs are still hanging around the engine. Ill have to take pics to explain it but the car is not here at the moment. Its ok. Its all for Nissan doctor to worry about not me! I just pay the bill! I really need to get the engine washes sorted though.

New rear shocks, bump stops, one new boot strut, new sub woofer, new radio, soon to be new gearbox mounts as well as fixing a rattle I made from not putting the car back together after the sub-woofer wiring.
    Busy couple of weeks.
Things you do to procrastinate from college work :o

    EDIT:
The feeling you get when you look at your own car gleaming is only good when you do the work yourself ;)

So true, but the thought of the work is a little too much for me now. Suppose essay writing has its charms =D

Interiors got a Hoover & clean but exterior still needs to be done :(
Haven't been able to brave the elements this week. Booking in with Elite on Sat for a good polish, has a voucher. Can't wait to see her sparkle :D

I'm the opposite, I'm always cleaning the outside but the inside has only been cleaned once since I bought it. :pac:

Bought a set of HSP pads for it. Now just have to find some discs to go nicely with them.

If they failed your E30 on a power steering leak, they obviously didn't notice that the only oil on the steering rack was coming from the rocker cover leak:rolleyes:

I think he said there was oil on it so that it had to be cleaned up to find out where it was coming from. I presume that the rocker cover is on top of the steering rack? Or close enough too it? I only had that rocker cover gasket repaired about a year ago. When i was having a look at the lights in the e46 i did notice a little pool of oil. Dont ask me where it is under the plastic engine cover thats all i know. I took a pic but god knows when i get a chance to put it up. Ill deal with this all next week!

    @ Owen

Question : what type of kit did you get in order to secure the AC unit where it is now ? and where did you get it from?
I have a similar set up on my E46 but the AC unit isn't quite secure ...
    Thanks

Car was up in the air again, forgot I hadn't tightened tie rods/centrelink to spec last week, left the torque wrench at home.

You can order the replacement bracket from BMW - it's just the one that would be used on an e46 if the car originally came with Climate. Some UK Breakers yards might have them too, but not here - very few cars would have come with factory nav here.

Nothing like a bit of hissing and cracking to add that extra atmosphere to your music.

If it's Slayer, Sepultura or old Metallica you're listening to then you won't notice the difference :D
