Nine episodes in and I've come to the conclusion that this show is just really, really bad. Terribly written. Who cares who killed her, they haven't even shown us anything about her life to make us feel sympathic towards her. It's got so far removed from the first episode or two it's crazy.

Well said sir!....it's my biggest issue with the show outside of "suspect", resets and red herrings. We know NOTHING about Rosie, at first i thought she'd have this murky background, i mean the first two eps. suggested this.....with that cage, sex, older men etc.

But since then, nothing....i don't care about Rosie, i don't feel connected to her or care about ANY of the characters, they all come across as lowlife scumbags and dirty. Even the cops....Linden is like a tinker, she looks like she sleeps in the same clothes every night.

Her partner is a lanky and skinny looking druggie, i've never seen such an unattractive cast in my life!, yes i *get* it's supposed to be real people, real life.....but does everyone have to dress like they live on the street?

Ugh!....this show bugs me, i'll see it to the end of this season, if it's renewed i will NOT watch.

In spite of all the problems about Rosie's background, I like it! The episodes fly by, I hit play and before I know it, theres the little montage of everyone at the end.

Ep. 10 - pretty decent!....so Belko eliminated as a suspect, Richmond = possible new suspect!, so was Rosie taking money out of the parents account and what?....spending it at the casino?

Or, maybe a secret BF who was in debt to a casino and she was taking money to pay it off?, i wonder if the mayor or the minted dude who gave Richmond $5 million is associated with the casino?

The interrogation of Belko was pretty good!...still very slow though, i don't think Richmond did it, too obvious a red herring. But still....she was found in the campaign car, unless her secret BF needed a ride to the casino, she knew where to get one from the car lot etc.

They really NEED to step it up now!....only three left, my fear is with the pacing they might not even reveal the bloody killer!, it might end on a cliffhanger hoping for season 2, then it'll probably wrap the Rosie killing in the first two eps. of season 2 while starting a new murder arc...argh!!

IMDB posters, lots of them....are pointing the finger at the mayor, it makes sense as i'm sure Richmond will become mayor. The policital aspect is not random, it has to be involved somehow. lol...i love guessing games!

I reckon it's Aunt Terry. They showed her having a bit of a melt down in an earlier episode and they haven't returned to it since. It may prove to be important.

Some TV shows and films can do wonders for tourism
This show isn't going to do much for wet, dreary Seattle though. Ah, I know it's just TV but does it ever stop raining?

I love these shows when it's one case and not a new case every week like Criminal Minds

But I've zero empathy with Rosie, I know little about her. And from what it looks like he had a boyfriend, was heading to casinos at all hours and possibly cleared out the family's live savings.

I'll be interested how this ends up and I definitely don't think it was that candidate for mayor.

Feel sorry for the finance, he's getting screwed around

Oh and I'd recommend Murder One if you're liking this show. From 1996 and superb!

What a waste of time that was. I know the point of the episode was to develop the characters of the two leads and show us the relantionship that has built between them, but it was way too late and way too boring. God I've really grown to seriously dislike this show and all the half-assed brooding characters in it.

What were they thinking, giving us that kind of episode so late on in the season? Would have played much better about three episodes ago.

And I'm still not sure how I'm supposed to feel about Lyndon. I just cant sympathise with her because whenever anyone tells her something just doesn't want to hear, but knows is true, she stamps her feet and throws a tantrum.

Weakest episode of the series so far.

And this stage I'm starting to lose interest but with just two episodes left will finish it off.

I still know little about Rosie and the two detectives are incredibly unlikeable.

    It's going downhill

Have to mirror everyone above....terrible half assed poorly written episode. The shocking thing is it was written by Veena Sud, the bloody show producer/creator!!
Shockingly bad, i *get* what they were trying to do, show parralells between the two detective and her "missing" child to juxtaposition that of Rosie and the Larsen parents.

But it was terribly done, more the very poor writing and dialogue, Linden was like a foot stamping brat, lanky scrawny dude with all his "homie" lingo is REALLY annoying!....honestly, i loathe both of these characters immensly.

If Enos gets a gong for her "acting" i'll be super pissed!, and Forbes started good...maybe 3/4 eps. but she's been piss poor since. Weekly this show has dropped in quality...imo it does NOT deserve a second season!

I'm more annoyed now that AMC cancelled a QUALITY show like Rubicon for this muck!!

Now I know it was a few weeks back
At the end of the season, I'm looking forward to the Q&A with a writer so I maybe can learn the reason for the guy punching a rock

The most bizarre thing I've seen in a TV series this year

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 23,556 ✭✭✭✭Sir Digby Chicken Caesar

I thought the interrogation scene pretty well established that he's kind of simple, punching the rock was just his way of dealing with the emotion of the situation.

also, yeah that last episode was godawful. Do not like main detective lady, and main trainee detective man is slipping down in my estimation too... I hated him at first, slowly grew to like him a bit but then started actively disliking him again.

The only character in the show I like is rosie, and i'm sure that's only because she's dead so she hasn't been on screen long enough to annoy me

:( lads 11, started with promise but week on week i really have come to loathe this show. Does it EVER stop raining in Seattle?...most most the budget must go on the water trucks, do they sweep it up and recycle?....seems an awful waste of water :(

Holder and Linden....jebus!, two most unattractive leads on tv i've seen, especially lanky scrawny dude who looks like he needs a few burgers in him, did he audition for The Machinist

Linden, brush your hair love!, take off those bloody wolly jumpers!
Listen, i'm taking the piss to lighten the load due to a very poor show which has irked me since episode 4, this is a poor remake, it's badly written and acted.

It just does not translate well to an American setting, how are you supposed to feel empathy for a dead girl we know NOTHING about?
The term "grief porn" has been used to describe the Larsen parents loss of their child, what they mean is it comes across as forced, in your face and blatantly OTT!

Initially Michelle Forbes and the hubby were stars but quickly degenerated and became too much, everytime Mitch would start to weep i'd go

Red herrings, the problem is they make it sooooooooo obvious!, every lead or "twist" you know right away is not legit, the premise of the show is flawed....why?, if it's not the season finale you KNOW they are herrings.

Listen i could rant on and on, bottom line is i do not recomend this show, i think it's very weak and if it does get season 2 i will not tune in, interesting though AMC has not renewed it as yet?

Shame on AMC for cancelling Rubicon for this!....and roll on Hell On Wheels!

Have to admit episode 11 was the worst of the season so far. I'm starting to think its the little montage of everyone with the mysterious music at the end that keeps me watching.

Yes totally agree, watched the trailer of the American version and won't be wasting my time watching it. Does anyone have a date when the second Danish Killing series starts on BBC 4?

  • Registered Users Posts: 504 ✭✭✭SVG

I haven't seen the American version but from reviews I've read it seems to stick quite close to the original. I wonder how they managed to mess it up? I loved the gloomy weather and the normal looking people and the jumpers in the original!

Find a wool shop if they still exist and see if the local library has Woman Weekly and dig out the Xmas editions for the knitting patterns. Thats how my gran use to ensure we had jumpers like that for Xmas.

Found this on Wiki just now.
The second series, Forbrydelsen II, takes place two years after the first and consists of ten episodes. It first aired in Denmark between 27 September and 29 November 2009.[12] It was shown on German TV channel ZDF[13] and on Swedish SVT [14] in the autumn of 2010. It will be shown on BBC4 in the autumn of 2011, following the success of the first series

This show is really dragging. I'm only half watching it at this point.
It's putting me off ever watching the original. Is the quality that much better? Is the story less full of nonsense and red herrings? Is there less filler like this pointless and boring eleventh episode?

  • Registered Users Posts: 43,842 ✭✭✭✭Basq

I'm way behind on this remake.. and simultaneously behind on the original.

From what I saw of the original (6 - 7 episodes), it was blooming superb though.

Aunt Terry?....i'm calling BS and red herring on this!...an attempt to steer viewers in a certain direction hoping to amp up the final reveal and make more impact:

I'm telling ya - it's the kids. Remember the Mum's reaction in the early episodes when they went to eat Rosie's cereal? Clearly they weren't allowed when Rosie is alive. But with her dead...

^ that would be a well twisted twisty twist...killer idea Ioxy!

if I finish up the american version will it spoil the ending for the better original version? or are they two seperate stories

if the original version is actually good, I'd like to keep the surprise reveal of the ending for it rather than waste it on the mediocre at best american one.

AFAIK the killer is different. You can be sure though the killer in this version will be arrested in a heavy rainfall with Michelle Forbes sobbing as her children are dragged away in handcuffs.
