Well, for one thing you can fling the Rose down the sink. Then we'll discus what to do with the others after we start into them. :p

Ah a kindred spirit! I would go for the box too, wine boxes good! Not bothered about the straw, but I couldn't resist adding the ribbon to my collection.

0*C strong sun but chilly breeze. Spring is in the air:

Spring is sprung, the grass is ris.
I wonders where the birdies is.
They say the birds is on the wing.
    Ain't that absurd?
I always thought the wing was on the bird.
    (Pardon the doggerel)

Answers on a postcard please .......... who penned the above! :)

Dih wing is on dih boid!

Good Moaning and Good Moaning ! :)

Must check to find out the rhymer. Kinda hectic here this weekend :D

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 7,108 ✭✭✭Jellybaby1

I Googled the rhyme to see what I could find and found it quoted on a blog by a woman in the "rolling hill country of Appalachian Ohio", who states she is "Wife to 1 man, Mom to 10 kids, and Farmer to a great many critters", now how did a Milligan rhyme get all the way there, I wonder? I used to like Milligan's insane sense of humour although sometimes it was more insane than humourous. Loved his war stories. I've given up searching for this as it seems it could be one of several suggestions online, Milligan being one, Ogden Nash another, etc., and I don't even care anymore. :P

There was a young man, long gone.
Whose rhymes were oft put upon.
    Over-rated? Perhaps.
    But lets give some claps,
    To the prolific writer, Anon.

A man and a woman who had never met before but were both married to other people found themselves assigned to the same sleeping compartment on a trans-continental train. Though initially embarrassed and uneasy over sharing a room, they were both very tired and fell asleep quickly, he in the upper bunk and she in the lower.
at 1 a.m., the man leaned down and gently woke the woman saying, "ma'am, I'm sorry to bother you, but would you be willing to reach into the closet and get me a second blanket? I'm awfully cold."
"i have a better idea," she replied. "just for tonight, let's pretend that we're married."
"wow! that's a great idea!" he exclaimed.
"good," she replied. "get your own ****ing blanket."
after a moment of silence, he farted.

    Morning World.
I've just acquired a old bone-rattler of a bicycle. It's an old Triumph, a LampLighters bike, iron frame and weighs about 27.89 ton. Hope to restore it in time for a Blooms Day jaunt.

    I'm older than Minecraft goats.

Good morning OldGoat. If you haven't muscles now, you will by the time you put that old bike back together.

  • Registered Users Posts: 12,633 ✭✭✭✭OldGoat

It's not in bad condition tbh. Tyres, tubes, brake-blocks and a drink of oil will see in in working order.
Restoring it will take longer though. Have to source original mudguards, leather saddle, handlebar grips and pedals. I have access to a caustic soda bath so I might dip it for a week to paint strip it and sand out any rust before repainting it.

Hey OG! It's not the one mentioned in the Old Testament?

Moses descending the mountain in Triumph?

Slowly shuffles to put on Matt Munro singing Lamplighter's Serenade before tiptoing to the teapot

There was an old Man from Tring

Who, when somebody asked him to sing,

    Replied, "Isn't it odd?

    I can never tell God

Save the Weasel from Pop Goes the King!"

Any chance of some before, during and after pictures? I love seeing how people tackle these sorts of projects.

I can do the Before without any problems. The during and after ones are a different story though. I tend to run out of steam before completing the project. :o

Used to have one of those bikes OG, it even had drum brakes on it!!! got a punture and left it in the alley behind the house while I went around to open the gate. When I did the damn thing had been taken, never saw it again, I think it was a "Sun" make.

Is this some kind of latter day mechanically propelled Penny Farthing?

In which rotation do the wheels go? Clockwise, anti-clockwise?

Do you have to employ a man with a red flag to walk in front?

All above answers can be found in Rudge's "Usage And Abusage Of non-Monocycle Transportation" (13th edition onwards)
