Was away in France a couple of years ago in a house with no internets/TV and the nearest village was about 3km away. Wonderfully quiet and relaxing...till we found the uke and a beginners book in one of the cupboards. Two weeks later we were all virtuosos.
The family that Uke together... :)

I got a classical guitar last week and an in the process of learning to finger-pick.
My fingertips are in agony at the moment.

    I'm older than Minecraft goats.

OG, many years ago himself became surgically attached to his guitar. His fingers bled and there were bits of skin everywhere, but he is a very accomplished player now. He said it was worth going through the pain as his fingertips are hard as nails (forgive the pun!) now!

If the fingertips get too bare you can preform some DIY skin grafting. Apply superglue to the tips and press against your chosen doner site, a la Jimi Hendrix et al !

I tried to play guitar once, but it beat 6 - 0.

Not going to attempt again. :D

Birthday on Saturday and I know I'm getting a Pineapple Uke plus instructions :p. At least I'd better be ......... but it's going to be a few weeks late (bloody internet site). By the time we get to Ireland in September The House Of The Rising Sun should be getting some welly! How about a duet in Dawson St? Will include your fingers in my Very Special mid-February Novena.

    Goodnight and Good Moaning :)

Well I bought myself a bodhrán, I need to learn to play it now.

    Couple of questions though:

    a) how do you switch it on?
    b) Where do you blow into it?

    a) You don't. Hand heat kicks it into play mode

    b) Well, if you're atop Hollyhead Hill on a frosty morning, you blow into your hands.
And watch out that you don't cause a sheep stampede. The poor dears are terribly susceptible to the pulsating drone. It may be wise to wear some back(side) padding in case the ram thinks that you are trying to lure his loves away. :D

And if all else fails I can enter the bodhrán frisbee championships of Holyhead :pac:

Do you think I would go out and spend my money on a genuine goatskin instrument when I dunno how to hold it let alone play it.??

*Quickly runs to hide the horns and shave the beard off his bodhrán*

(To be honest I think it is artificial. Not 100% sure)

If it has, he can give it a good shaking after each of QPR's goals against Fulham on Saturday. :D

I'm having a lot of interference as I listen to the news on Radio Kerry .......... might be OG fiendishly plucking the strings a la Django Rheinhart.

Goodnight all and Good Moaning :)

PS. Not really thought about it too much, but yes I think I was under the impression JuliusCaesar was sort of male too. Probably because of the name. NEVER take anything at face value on interwebby thingy.
