Yes, Gerry. Had lovely white runners and a mustache to die for...

Gerry was good but this guy is a class act altogether.
Has it all. That shoulder on Maher was a classic.
    Excellent vision too.
    As for Joe Canning...... well..!!!!

I wouldn't say he has it all, but that's part of the beauty of him. you dont need to be technically outstanding to excel at the top level. He does nothing silly and takes the sensible option in most instances. Hel never try for a hollywood pass or score.

Gerry mc played on two Galway all ireland winning teams and was part of the best half back that Galway have had imo. The son has a bit to do yet

    I asked this before :)

"I know the Galway senior hurlers train in Kenny Park in Athenry.

On what nights and times do they train?"

I know it may be a closed session etc but just wondering what nights and times they normally train.

I don't think they'd be specifically advertising when or what nights they would be in Athenry, any serious preparation they'd be doing for the final would be done well away from public view. However, in the final couple of weeks before the final I've been in Athenry a few evenings to see them, pucking around a bit and maybe a harmless training match. Don't recall what week nights they were.

They are having an open evening in Athenry this Thursday evening to meet the fans and take photos etc. Getting it out of the way early. Evening for the kids really. It'll be thronged I imagine.

    Sadly this didn't end well.

Galway Advertiser reporting that he's passed away.

    Only 53... awful news.

    RIP.

53 is no age to go. Condolences to all his family, friends and team-mates. A very sad night for Galway GAA.

Farewell to an absolute legend of the game, both on and off the field.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,032 ✭✭✭✭Utopia Parkway

He was at the game on Sunday apparently. Still looked as fit as a fiddle.

Some confusion on social media as to accuracy of reports.

Update : local news organization has removed the post from social media platforms

Meelick and NUIG GAA pages both reporting he's still fighting. Hon Tony!

Shameful by the Connacht Tribune. Rag of a local paper anyway

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 341 ✭✭jam83

Shows how bad the Connacht tribunes sport sources are. Did they pop into a pub to see if anyone had any news of Tony keady?
Whoever put it out on Facebook that he died is an idiot.

Does anyone know what date/time tickets for the final will be going on sale at gaa.tickets.ie? I'm desperate to finally go to an All Ireland and I really do think this is our year! :D

Hate to break it to you but you haven't a hope of getting a ticket that way, tickets available only through clubs

County board will only be selling to season ticket holders too so you'd be wasting your time going Salthill. Start asking favours now because if Cork win tickets will be golddust.

Whoever wins the other semi-final it's going to be much harder to get tickets than the last two finals against Kilkenny. Either Cork or Waterford will bring a far bigger crowd than Kilkenny and the demand in Galway will be massive.

Galway Waterford could sell 150k tickets

Both havent won it in so long and both would fancy their chances
