I'm trying to register calves online and dept website is fooked. Just wondering if anyone else is having problems with AIM.

PS I am wearing jeans, a t-shirt and a jumper+pierre cardin socks for anybody with a bad imagination:D

If the seat's wet, sit on yer hat, a cool head is better than a wet ar5e.

I think the local expert may have been basing his argument on the fact that you are advised not to vacc within a couple of weeks of breeding. I think it's more to do with the stress associated with handling as much as anything else that may effect conception rates.
We try and do them a month or 6 weeks before the bull.

Sorry folks. Im my head I was talking about Lepto, but I see everyone else was talking about BVD. This heat must be getting to me!

And the jeans are semi-crotchless too, Will have to be careful of the papparazzi when I'm getting out of the jeep/ off the tractor:eek:

A meal bag might be handy

If I were you whelan Id replace that jack straight away. Once they start slipping its the warning sign to fcuk it out , because as true as eggs are eggs , it will let you down when you most need it :( .
And your better off with no jack than a bad jack , because at least then you wont try and calve the tougher ones and get caught out .
Hope the heifer and calf go on for you :D

Isnt farming great when things are going well and the weather like this.
Had three sets of triplets lambs over the past few days and most ewes are having twins. Weather is so good I can let them out after a day (not the triples yet) Even let a big single born this morning out this evening too. Its healthier and shed is a bit full.
    Farm full of grass.

    Hope it continues this way.:D

honda quads are really gone pi** poor as of late.
have a 420 that is only 9 months old, and the front wheel bearings are gone in both sides, as well as the track rod ends.
seat cover split open for no reason as well.
had a 420 for 2 years previous to this one as well, and nothing but trouble with it:mad::mad:

I've covered myself with the stuff before while injecting a cow and she leapt while I was injecting her. Ended up looking like I was jaundiced!
Another time I was helping a man vaccinate on the chutes at work and managed (somehow) to vaccinate myself! Cue trip to the doctor 2 days later when my finger was swollen like a balloon.

When I was looking up quads I did see a lot of people say to steer clear of the 420's. There also seems to be a lot of them for sale second hand.

    +1

I was advised to keep away from the 420.

I have my quad Honda 500 for 12 months this week. It has been pretty reliable and I have 400 hours on it and it has done some seriously heavy work. The old man said last night, after he came in from licking a 10 acre meadow with it, that we really couldn't live without it now. Its a big change for a man who wouldn't drive it for the first 3 months that we had it.

Only problem I have with it is that it needs a job done on the rear brakes as they just won't stop it dead anymore - they will hold it on a hill though. I checked the wear mark on the brakes and it looks like the rear brake shoes are well worn. Ordered a new set yesterday and studied the manual. it doesn't look too hard to replace them. There's even a video on how to do it on youtube. I'm going to take a chance and try to do them myself at the weekend. Anyone ever done it and know if it's a difficult job?

Do you work in a mart? Was it a lad doing them before he brought them home?

honda's used to be great bike. and i thought the first 420 was just a once off, the current one just reinforces the fact that they are a piece of c!@p.
there is 6500km on this one but they usually lasted til well over 11000km before parts started to wear

    Yup I do:D

It was usually the Northern buyers who did it.

The fella I borrow the quad off has a Yamaha, great bike. It's got Ultramatic written on the side of it and that's all I know from here. He was showing me when you put weight on the back tray how the tow bar comes UP, but he said on the new ones when you do that the tow bar goes DOWN, which makes no sense to me anyhow.

I think the 500 Hondas are supposed to be alright.

My view on them is get one with a bit of poke and only use it when it's needed. I've read a lot of people complaining about how much fuel they use, but sure that's only used when the bike is turned on, walk more I reckon :D They're a great tool, but I think some think of them as armchairs!
