'05 Renault Laguna I had as a company car, it was never out of the garage and everything went wrong with it. Turned me off Renault forever, it was quick enough in a straight line but handled like a boat, the interior fell apart, the exhaust fell off, it had starting problems, oil pump failed, fuel pump failed...... the list goes on.

Closely follwed by a '99 Escort, the worst drive of my life

We have one of those in the family and we always thought it was brilliant. We have the odd bulb or fuse blowing, but mechanically we've no problems at all.

01 VW Golf, it's a lotto to see which engine warning code it will throw up week on week..
suspension like and old couch, wishbone's replaced.
    Rubber hoses disintegrate
Brake lights have a mind of there own
Fog lights take turns as to which one works while the other take it easy
Boot lid lock has parted company with the central locking
Feel like its being strangled under acceleration..

I'm going back to Honda, even the badly maintained 97 Civic with 120kmiles i had was less trouble on a daily basis!

    Rover 414 ( Company Car )

I drove it onto the M40 when I first got it ( brand new ) and pulled over because I figured it must be broken it was SOOOOOO NOISY !!!!!!

    Hated it with a passion

2 weeks after getting it , it was parked up and someone drove into it , basically the car was totally compressed , the boot and half the rear end was gone.

The insurance said it was JUST repairable ( I was furious ) ... anyway it was one HORRIBLE HORRIBLE car.

Would go through stages where it just wouldn't start , then after turning it over for about 4 mins on the ignition it would fire cylinder by cylinder with bags of black smoke.

00 Golf TDI, a nasty nasty car, burnt oil, electrical problems, rattled squeaked and creaked like a pirate ship.

08 Golf GT sport 140 TSI loved the car but so so many issues with it and time spent in Dealers that I just couldn't stand it any more.

    2006 Seat Leon.

Bought it with 18k on it, 100k km later and 3 years (parked up for 1 year of that) it's had:

    An air con compressor.
    A gearbox.
    Lambda Sensor.
    Door seals.
Track rod ends (fair enough they wear).
    Interior locking switch.
The headlights completely rewired as it liked to blow bulbs fortnightly.
An insatiable appetite for rear tyres - one set lasted just 6k km. At €150+ a pop that aint fcuking funny. Using settings from another car at the moment according to the tyre place as this solves it:confused::confused::confused:
    Condensation in the headlights.
Dead flies in the rear tail lights (from the factory - wtf?!? Says a lot about QC there).

It's probably going to be fine now though but doesnt matter as I have lost all faith in it and all going well I'll have the new motor in the next couple of weeks:D

Unfortunatelly that doesnt change the fact that it was the worst car ive ever owned. pity.

Also a friend of mine paid big money for a low mileage '00 saxo which is basically the same car with a different badge. infact from what i can make out it is the exact same car.
Paid i think 3 grand which was back in late 2007 (wasnt actually that shocking if people think back to what car prices were back then)

Car had something between 55-59,000 miles and was mint, he also had it checked over by a mechanic and his dad who used to import lots of high end, luxury type cars.

Low and behold 8-9 months down the line, engine light on and that was the end of that, managed to get a few hundred miles out of it but was given its last rights by the mechanic so wouldnt have much faith in them TBH.

I had a Landrover Discovery 3 '06 model. It cost €40k as a Commercial vehicle. When it went, it was great. But it rarely went without a problem. I had it back to the Garage 25 times in 24 months before I drove it on to the steps of the garage, locked it up and left it there. For example the things that went wrong:
    * Driving to Cork from Dublin all the windows came down on their own and wouldn't go back up.
    * Sometimes when you were stopped at the lights, the air suspension would develop a mind of its own and start going up and down on its own.
    * The passenger door lock got stuck regularly, not good when you are trying to let your boss in and its lashing rain.
    * Electronic handbrake would stop working constantly and when you tried to release it, it made the loudest screeching sound. Embarrassing.
    * The radio would come on and I had to disconnect the battery to get it to go off.
The list goes on and on. I was glad to see the back of it.

That's actually a very good point. Whatever about a bit of unreliability from a car I love, I don't know if I could take getting let down by something I didn't even really want in the first place!

It was an 99 1.4 opel astra , just changed the timing belt, oil, and filters, 2 months later the engine seized at 93,000 miles.

Had it two years non stop problems and paintwork fading badly on a 4 year old car (at the time)

    Piece of crap.

The sh1tbox Primera I'm driving at the moment. It is burning enough oil to make OPEC worry. One return trip to Dublin from Mayo and it's bone dry. I was seriously considering ringing BP the time of the Gulf of Mexico spill to tell them I'd dispose of 90% of the oil if they ran a pipe to the car.
Worst thing is I was driving a GTI with DSG a year ago. Cursed recession. Don't miss it though........

Worst car ive owned was a 07 toyota auris. Handled like a dog, was deceptively wide, breaks squeaked all the time when reversing and to top it off because of the weird way the handbrake/gearstick is situated in a middle island yoke it was very hard to take off the handbrake on a steep hill. I bought it off a girl who was stuck on a hill because she couldnt get the handbrake off :D I didnt keep it for long, awful awful car.

    +1
Mother has one and I hate the yoke its gone through a gearbox already and a fuel pump doesnt have enough power (1.4 d4d) Ive driven a petrol one and thats worse yet again the wideness of it makes it diffucult to park and you can see nothing out the back window

The least reliable car had to be my 89 Mini City. I only had it for about 6 months, but was lucky to go a week without problems. I loved it though.

    +1
89 Miny Maifair, bought it new with 90 km on the clock.
The rear windows wouldn't stay closed
The roof lining fell on my head several times
    Door locks wouldn't shut properly
But worst of all, under heavy braking it would pull massively to the left ...after about 10 visits to the dealer someone from Rover came to inspect it and found that one track rod was simply too short

It went like stink though and was the best driving fun that I ever had until I disemboweled it on the tow hook of the car in front.

Other than that never really had a "bad" car, just the normal kind of wear and tear when you buy old jallopies only

    This is an easy one

2004 Renault Clio 'BEEBOP', 04TN3286 I think, which had 40k miles on it when i bought it.

If you own this car no amount of holy water will drive out the devils within.

It was **** to drive, uncomfortable, not very economical and these are just the best parts.

The leaks couldn't be stopped, it got to the stage where one day I sealed the sunroof, doors, side windows and boot and still water got in and stained the headlining. The floor wells would fill with a couple of inches of water and never dry out. Water even came out of the ignition barrel a number of times which was rather strange

It fell apart inside and out, the horn worked on dry days, the dials worked occasionally. All the warning lights worked though as I saw them often enough. Any piece of wiring or electrical parts I ever inspected or repaired had rust on them, paint peeled, loads of electrical stuff broke.

It was hard to start if there was any weather (hot, cold, wet) outside and then it was hard to keep running. Occasionally it then wouldn't turn off

I was driving down from Dublin the last evening I had it and I decided I hated it so much I pulled into my mates garage and bought a Corolla (all I could afford) without inspecting it or test driving it. As I pulled out of the garage the gearbox went in the Clio. I got out and kicked the front bumper which then fell off....

Also I think the HG was failing as it used to give me fresh mayo daily

Sold it to a guy in Kildare for €1400.....saw it on adverts a few weeks later for double the money

    It was a **** car

    04 Kia Rio.

Got It in college, Had to have the suspension done on all four corners, discs changed, Clutch done, Rocket cover gasket, tappets adjusted constantly (otherwise it would tick and run like a bag of ****e) and then the drive shaft snapped changing from second to third one day.

Glad to see the back of it.

Now have a 06 Focus, no problems and a world of difference to drive.

Worst car---Fiat punto,The first and last italian car i ever had, I had it for 3 months , the gearbox gave up one day, electrical faults also, then the day before i sold it the exhaust backbox broke off. The day i sold it was a happy one :)

My last car 2007 Audi A8. Bought it at a repo auction in 2009. That car broke my heart and pocket...

    Fuel pump went.
It ate tyres even after tracking.
Air suspension went beserk and the control unit was replaced and I had to replace all the front suspension.
    Gear box replaced.
    Turbo blew.
I nearly blew the engine one day when it overheated even though the temp sensors were fine.

I know that dont look much but I sold the car in 2010. The most annoying thing is the person that bought it hasnt had a problem with it.

Lovley car though. I would definitley get another one.

Its a choice of 3 fo me, I just think theyre all equally bad

I used to have a 1992 Seat Ibiza. Little rotten heap of sh1t, brakes failed, rattly engine which fell out one day, dead as a maggot to drive and handled like a turnip. Drove it till it blew up then went bazzurk on it with a sledge hammer

1996 Ford Escort. Newish interior and handled well. But that was it. It fell to bits at an alarming rate with rot to match and major drains on the battery finished it off. It sits in my garden, buried in a hedge minus its engine, axle and lights. It was repeatedly rammed with a tractor too :D

My current daily hack, a 2001 Punto Sporting. Now contrary to popular belief, Puntos are a reliable little motor. This one isnt. And its yellow. And its been chavved up by the previous owner. And it sounds horrible. And the power steering likes to fail when it wants. And its too low to the road. I hate driving it and the sight of it :mad::mad: The only good ting about it is I get to get rid of it next month, HORAY!!!

I want my Bravo back!!! :(

The worst thing I have ever driven, glad to see the back of it. It looked cool, and could fit a bike. That was about it.

    - Pretty heavy on juice
    - Slow!
    - Terrible road handling
    - Shouldn't be sold to naive city folk like me

My worst was easily a 01 laguna 1.8,looked lovely 17" alloys climate control etc but what a nightmare, needed new clocks, alloys straightened, new tyre valves, throttle body, bushes every time youd park on a step, youd have a flat and it ate tyres,oh and 1 other thing, you couldnt lift the wipers fully off the windscreen to change blades because of the bonnet.Who designed that?Have a 04 avensis for 4 years and has never missed a heartbeat.

Worst car for me was a 1999 Opel Vectra. Bought it new and it was the most unreliable piece of crap to grace my driveway. Even in the end Opel didn't want to fix it. I really hated that car and everytime I turned the key I said to myself "what now?". Unreliability aside it was terrible to drive and drank petrol. Got rid of it after 15 months.

Flip side of the coin was my last car, a Volvo S40. Cost me a fair wedge in my wallet between wear & tear items and other bits & pieces over 2 years of ownership. 2 months before I sold it the DPF had to be replaced at a cost of €900 and even the week I sold it I had to replace a broken breather pipe but I still had a fondness for it. Well equipped, comfortable, nice to drive and had an upmarket feel about it.

Mine was my 96 Punto ELX. First new car I ever bought. Had it for 18 months and had the following problems

Wiper motor burnt out in the middle of torrential rain
Ignition that randomly picked 3 cylinders
Alloys that seemed to made from tinfoil constantly buckling
Paintwork that thin that rain would scratch it
    Both electric window motors failed
Electric sunroof that would open at random

But when the engine would behave it had a bit of poke for a 1.3

Bought it new for 10k and sold it 18 months later for 9200......so every cloud :D
