Cold and still frosty in places here, but overall a lovely crisp sunny day. So clear, I saw more jets today than Ive ever noticed before. Contrails criss crossing the sky all over. Wish I had better binos. I even saw a sundog today.

I'm under a blanket of cloud at the moment, it appears the anticyclonic gloom I've been dreading has arrived :( yet the 2000 ME obs for Dublin Airport, only a few miles away says fair and -2. It cant be -2 where I am cos I just checked outside and theres no frost on cars? odd

Has anyone ever seen this effect before? The frost settled on the walls just after sundown, very suddenly - probably within an hour or so. I've never seen anything like it. I'd love to know what's happening.

Probably freezing fog moving against the wall and freezing on contact with it, only started after sundown as the sun would have been keeping the wall warm enough before now.

Bit of a peasouper in KK. I've never seen fog this bad in the town.

Dry and Clear in Castlebar.Patches of Fog about too.

    Sandyford

Calm, overcast, 0C. Everything frozen solid.

Funny thing; heavy hoar frost on Wednesday persisted out of the direct sunlight. Then it clouded over and by Thursday morning this 'anticyclonic gloom' was in place.

Two days later the hoar frost sits intact in all the places where it survived the sun on Wednesday - the rest is clear and dry though the ground is frozen.

Dry bright morning. Low last night -0.1c and not much frost due to cloud cover. Now its 2.3c and rising. Should be a nice day.
