Just got into the car to go to the shops. Took 2-3 mins just to reverse out onto the road....then decided if the next mile was gonna be that bad I wasn't arsed, drove back into the drive and now I'm warm again.

    -2 according to the car.

can anyone beat -14 in Navan first thing this morning?

(even mentioned by Damien Farrelly on 2fm)

it was so cold that when i went out to de-ice the windscreen it was actually totally clear aside from one or two tiny flecks of ice!

how cold must it be for there to be so little humidity that your windscreen doesn't ice up???

Fcuking freezing on the quays around half 8 this morning, never felt cold like it. My fingers were in proper pain within a minute of getting off the bus.

    Kilkenny City outskirts...

    Temperature: Current -4.9 °C High -3.8 °C Low -5.5 °C
    Dew Point: Current -5.2 °C High -4.7 °C Low -5.8 °C

Sun is shining and I would expect a major thaw today. The snow is already melting in the sun albeit a little slowly and there is no thaw in the shade.
With the temperature being so low it'll be interesting to see how much of the snow clears.

i like the snowy weather as much as the next person and was delighted to see it as i was on hols for the last 2 weeks, but i live on a fairly hilly part of my area, and now its not much fun trying to get down them and definitely up them.

Nonsense. Anyone with a good 4x4 AND winter or mud & Snow Tyres at LOW pressure and driving in L/Low can let the machine drive itself, no clutch or accelerator, just let it drive away it will go up and down hills in about a foot of snow and handle ice like it was not there.

Oh and it can be great fun too actually.

    Perspectives. :)

perspective - we can all afford a good 4x4 yeah:rolleyes:

as to tyres what do you think i'm driving on

fun once in a while, but for 10 weeks this year so far, not fun

    back on topic

-7 this morning hopefully we'll get a melt over the next few days

More snow in Letterkenny overnight, about 3 inches widespread now and up to 5 inches in places. Still close to -10C here so theres no chance of any thaw at the moment

ah if it was mentioned in the media it has got to be true:D

if only it would get that cold vibe666.

since humidity is not a measurement of temperature, you can actually get higher humidity in colder weather.
In the winter high humidity can feels colder, than just drier air of the same temperature because the conduction of heat away from you body increases
