The first time ever I've seen a dual core Atom in a netbook. The price seems to be right:

    http://www.argos.ie/static/Product/partNumber/5084265.htm

And the best: it's actually available in a number of Argos stores right now and can be ordered in the others.

looks like maybe a misprice, 175 reduction instead of 75? but worth a shot

Worth a shot. Reserved one for collection. If I get it for that money, happy days. If not well I don't really need it....

Thats a super deal, snap it up while they dont notice

The dual core means a useful performance upgrade over the single core n450, still nowhere near a laptop but a welcome improvement none the less

reseved one at 225. will they honour this? or have they got history of messing around with prices.

How did you get a reservation till monday ? I thought that the reserve lasted for 24hrs ?

Also, i'd imaging that if you print off your reservation mail with the pricing details, you'd be OK...no ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 360 ✭✭mytime

would there be much of a difference beteen this and the samsung n130. I know the hard drive is bigger but would there be a massive difference with processor speed and quality of display, sound etc:confused:

No binding contract 'til €€ has changed hands.

They're perfectly within their rights to deny you that price when you go to collect.

    see this in T+C's

Please note that our prices change, sometimes on a daily basis. The price you pay is the price in store on the day you collect your items.

Just to add it should come with a free copy of Norton Internet for Netbooks ( in a separate pack).
You might have to ask for it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,502 ✭✭✭chris85

Got the same email Hopefully it all goes well

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,076 ✭✭✭Eathrin

Well at the moment " This item is out of stock and could not be reseved" is coming up, so they noticed something...I think. Or its been max ordered already.

Hardly woth the hassle really. I can't say for sure but it's probably more bloated than it needs to be like the normal Norton and it will be popping up asking you to buy as soon as the sub runs out..

Just as easy to install Microsoft security essentials for free and not worry about it again.

Wouldn't touch a "free" copy of norton. It'll just start hassling you to buy it in a year, and it's a bit shite anyway. MS security essentials is all you need.

    It says
Sorry, the following item(s) are now out of stock and could not be reserved
    :(

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 61 ✭✭dmcar02

This is a very good offer, will buy the missus one (yeah).

Until I have it here in my hands I reserve jusgement, but usually Argos are ok. Netbooks seem to be the way to go, at least when you walk into PC World  they seem to be the first thing you see.

    Good spot OP

I just tried jervis and st. stephens green... both say stock on Monday

I reckon they (argos) made an error??, I seriously doubt ALL the stores in Ireland are sold out of this item so quickly! more likely they realized they made a mistake and will rectify price on Monday.

I tried to order few mins after OP posted, got the ''Can be ordered for collection Monday 6th''

If someone has reserved 1 and does not want it can they PM me please :)

    Thanks

I reserved one in Longford but won't make it down - if anyone wants it PM me (I didn't PM the people who requested as I figured the location would be an issue).
btw, I reserved this one at about 10.30 yesterday evening, so doesn't look like Argos pulled it - more likely a boards plunder's responsible for the depleted stocks.

    PM Sent

I didn't think this was a misprice. Endgadet reported the price would be $330:

    http://www.engadget.com/2010/10/04/acer-aspire-one-d255-with-dual-core-atom-hits-at-330/

..which in fairness is dearer, but not much so I thought "maybe it's just a decent reduction, fair play Argos". Then I checked the Argos UK site:

    http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/5084265/Trail/searchtext%3EACER+ONE+D255.htm

£279. So I doubt anyone will get it for €224, certainly not when they start wondering why they have to deliver 50 of them to Dublin on Monday.

I dunno. I bought a camera lens (flagged here) in Argos a couple of years ago, and it was much cheaper here than in the UK.

Padraig Mor is right, remember the Samsung 46" Argos price differential between the UK & Ireland that caused a feeding frenzy here couple of months ago.

Prob last 8 hours if you have all energy saving settings turned on, but that would include turning wifi off :)
Yes all netbooks (i believe) come with wifi.

If anyone wants a reservation code for Galway send me a pm.
I've decided not to buy it as I've really no use for the thing.

Code expires at close of business today.

By the time stock comes in imagine, offer would be over. And argos have the price on the day you pay term

Beacuse they change their sale prices every week, new "bargains" go up on Wednesday
