Theres a game gear and 3 games for 20 quid on adverts
    http://www.adverts.ie/other-consoles-games/sega/1379205
(i'd buy it but I've 3 at present!)

'working but picture seems to have vertical lines while playing games'

Unless you can replace caps I'd avoid!

hmm the caps kit fix isnt too expensive (fair bit of soldering though), and I've seen people look for stupid money for GGs on adverts so it still might be nice

Oh if you have soldering skills (or know someone who has) and you can replace caps, then it's definitely worth it as a project unit. €20 is nothing for that.

Unfortunately I think most people don't fall into that category :(

Which is a shame as as far as the Gamegear goes, fixing the screen/sound seems to be a prerequisite to owning a functioning one.

It's an easy enough repair, just time consuming. But if your methodical about it & can solder to a half decent level you'll be fine - http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2056062656

    OMG! OMG! OMG!

Duke Nukem on the Game Gear?
I knew it could be played on the Nomad, but this is amazing! ;)

I've 2 or 3 GameGears with knackered screens. I should put them up for trade if people want them. I've no love for the system at all.

Is there anything in there that's really worth getting though?

I can't tell from the pic, if they're just old x86 PC's or something nicer.

Yeah that's fair enough just looked through a few more bits now and they are a bit.

They don't look that badly priced for a retro shop. I've seen much worse and all their gear looks in pretty decent nick. If someone goes to the effort of cleaning the gunk out of the controllers etc, i'm happy to pay a little extra for saving me the hassle. If i didn't need the money to keep a roof over my head i'd go for the boxed pikachu n64 and boxed Jaguar.

Hmm, I just got a virus/malware popup about that http://www.retroscene.co.uk/ website the second I opened it.
It was for that new crrss.exe virus thats popping around the last week or so(a lot of anti-virus software still doesn't pick it up yet).

Might be a coincidence but be careful folks.
It's about 12kb in size and is delivered via websites using Javascript.

    Edit:
I actually clicked on 2 links(so it could be either of those sites), that www.retroscene.co.uk and another that I cant list as it belongs to someone here so don't want to bad mouth anyone. It's probably the retroscene one as I've clicked the other site before, or just a coincidence and I got it from somewhere else. MS Security Essentials caught it before i got infected by the way.

They're not excessively expensive, but they are on the dearer end of the scale. Factor in overseas delivery too & it could get quite costly.

@Steve, I also got the malware warning. Avast to the rescue

Never seen a copy like that before. Were PAL Saturn games sealed like that? I don't recall them being so.

Was that on the retroscene site? If so I reckon we steer clear of it.
If it was on a website that belongs to a member here we should probably let them know.

I seem to remember seeing something like that before in stores around the time the Saturn was active. Not sure though, it may have been just a drunken dream/hallucination as I was an atavan style piss head around that time(sorry atavan, you know i say it with love).
