I'm not from these parts, so any suggestions as to the best Sunday markets to check out? In Dublin, that is.

The comic-book guy in Blackrock Market has the odd stash of classic-gaming ware, it's quite small, but he keeps it in good nick, he's decent on the price and he's always adding bits. Make sure to have a good rummage around the stall, I found a couple of minty Megadrive games on a shelf behind a Shrek doll. He's got a few Game Boys out front too, if that floats your kestrel. There's bric-a-brac stall directly across from it that sells DVDs for 3e a pop, has the odd game (extremely thin pickings) at the same price, saw RE4 (GCN) there the other day, good nick and complete. Might be worth a snoop.

One of my friends is selling some stuff, just thought I'd share it here. He's posting from the UK but says he'll post it here for the same price.
If anyone's interested I can message him for you or I could get an email and ye can sort it out yourselves.

I never leave home without alcohol opening devices. You just never know when you might need those few bottles of wine to get you through the rest of the day.

Very cool item though! Although no shipping to Ireland? :(

On another note, why are people so ****ing mad about Conker's Bad Fur Day???

    Ok I asked him/her!

No idea, maybe because it has naughty language in it?

It's because naughty words and poo jokes are hilarious when you are 12 and cancel any rubbish gameplay.

I may as well put this here as it's gone far beyond what I can afford to pay. (and the seller snubbed my buy it now offer when it was only around £40)

Hands down, the rarest PAL Megadrive game. It felt like my dream auction. Seller didn't know what he had, listed as a normal '****ty' football game..if only he'd seen my offer earlier!

Anyway, it's the blue label World Championship Soccer 2. Been on my ebay watch list for a few years and it's the only time it has come up. Bugger!

**** thats on ebay, never comes up

But I was thinking about that and its the exact same are the classics edition isnt it, apart from the cover inlay, the sega classics series didnt have different manuals did they?

    edit: apparently not

    http://www.ebay.com/itm/Jeu-WORLD-CHAMPIONSHIP-SOCCER-2-Sega-Megadrive-PAL-100-E-Positives-TRES-RARE-/200715264668?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_23&hash=item2ebb8fe29c

So in essence people are paying, I dont know high 3 figure sums for a piece of gloss finish paper?? I know I'm a stupid collector about things but this one just seems stupid to me really

It's the exact same bar the inlay..but I'm not sure if it's meant to have a manual. I know the classics version doesn't, so it's not like you could drop it in.

The cool thing about it though is the fact that there's a classics version of a game that doesn't seem to have sold any copies. It's weird. I think all of the blue label ones were recalled and just rebranded. That's where they aren't more than a handful of them.

It's not just a case of different releases though...as in this case, it's the original blue boarder version which is **** rare. Makes it insanely valuable!

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,773 ✭✭✭Jack burton

Just threw down a proxy bid of 4000 on it, sure cant hurt like!

bet the game is **** aswell

Wait, was that a joke? I can't tell! This'll probably sell for about €700!

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,773 ✭✭✭Jack burton

    Ah I'm such a kidder.

This will possibly be the one rare game for the MD I wouldn't be bothered getting. That reminds me, have to see if I can trade my Alien Soldier double for the Punisher or somthing

OH GOD! Thank feck, for a moment I thought you'd lost your mind! :D

/edit - people keep bidding on that auction. There are 5 days left you gombeans!!!

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,773 ✭✭✭Jack burton

Ah I'm stupid but now that stupid haha

Nothing worse than people bidding early, I really question is when something like this comes up. You'd think all the people bidding on this would be pretty hardcore collectors, you'd think then they know how to bid for things on ebay properly instead of acting like....dare I say...n00bs

You're dead right! It confuses me even more when the winning bidder 5 days early has 1598 feedback!

Maybe he's just come to the conclusion that it's going to go for a lot of money so might as well bid early.

I e-mailed the good people at the C64 Preservation Project not long after that post,
and received an almost instant reply which confirmed that is an after market case!

Those rectangles are almost begging to be dremeled out, and be replaced with speakers hooked upto the SID via a little amp.

the fact that it shows up as Seller refurbished?
Possibly its a case swap with a 3rd party one?
