Any Irish Mammy would tell you that you need a tonic.

I'm not entirely sure what a 'tonic' is but apparently it cures all ails.

I KNOW that there is no need to request an opinion.

I'm looking for a new leader after Saturday night

What did the old leader do on Saturday night to dispose himself of his crown?:confused::confused:

And can he re-apply for the position?:p

    Sorry to hear that C.

Are you going to Meno for a second opinion? :)

If he did, this would be my advice :pac:

So you've given them permission to leave the nest?

Are you worried how they will cope out in the hurly burly of a race without you to guide them towards the path that is righteous and true and away from the people who hold hands across the road or those that wear headphones?

Edit: Actually thinking about it, wasn't there the witch in The Wizard of Oz who said 'fly my prettys"? The list of fictional characters increases.

My doctor had advised against running, I didn't listen and I'm now paying for it. As much as it kills me, I have to stop training at least until the New Year, devastated does not begin to cover it.

It could be worse. You get to chill out with the family over xmas and don't have to disappear for an hour or more for a run. You've still had a good 2011. It's all about the bigger picture.

I watched that with the kids last week, there's a definite resemblance.

Problem is, I keep my IBS under control by running, no running = pain :(

There'll be no more pb's for the year so I may aswell total up :(

    Distance | 2012 Target Time | 2010 PB | Current PB
    5km| 18:xx | N/A | 20:13
    5 Miles| 31:xx | N/A | 34:04 (Race Series 5 mile)
    10km| 38:xx | 54:09 | 41:44 (Donadea 10K)
    10 Miles| 1:04:xx | N/A | 1:14:22 (Mallow 10 mile)
    Half Marathon| 1:28:xx | N/A | 1:33:36 (Dublin 1/2 Marathon)
    Marathon| 3:09:xx | 4:15:20 | 3:29:xx (Dublin Marathon)

Not a bad year so, even if the last couple of months have been disappointing. Some big new PBs and some good targets for next year.

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,156 ✭✭✭jcsmum

A great year alright for you. Some of those 2012 targets are wow.....
I have utter faith that you'll achieve them all!!

Some ambitious targets there. Fair play for putting them up for all to see. I missed my chance to catch you this year, I'll never catch those times in 2012!

Good targets but the HM target bears no resemblance to the 10 mile one. If you run 64:xx for 10 mile, you'll easily run 1:25:xx for a HM.

Also you can leave the HM target until waterford in which case you'd be in better shape and go even faster. I'm assuming the 10 mile target race is Frank Duffy? (it's the latest one in the country that I'm aware of).

Aim high and all that, last year my goal for DCM 2011 was sub 3:50.

Some are more ambitious than others, I had hoped to bridge the gap a good bit in Mallow but will be playing catch up once I'm back to full health.

Yeah but you would want to have bagged a 1:28:xx early in the year before attempting a 64:xx 10 miler. I assumed your target races would be the Frank Duffy followed by the Dublin Half, but that would make no sense. You must have sneaky races planned but you are not giving much away :D

    Stranger things have happened! ;)

I've mapped out most of the year with RQ but she's like a steel trap! :)

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,548 ✭✭✭chinguetti

Ah the sneaky races. Down the country, about 150 max in them, belt out a pb and no one the wiser til afterwards. Clever lad. Can give you more sneaky races if you need some.

Now if you just gave up on the Garmin, suspend the log updates and abandon ever doing a speed session, you'ld be flying:D

Thanks dude but I've been through all the possible triggers and it's directly related to stress and lack of sleep (which is a stress in itself), running releases happy hormones to counteract the stress hormones.:(

my partner was caught in a similar vicous circle for years.
diagnosed with stress related IBS. the more pain she was in, the more stressed she became. Until she looked serious at her diet it didnt get any better. shes pretty much fine now. hopefully you get to the bottom of it.
Red wine should help with the sleep in the meantime!

    anyhow

    happy christmas man.
hopefully catch you for a run next year.
ive been doing very little myself, glad of the break though.
back running in the new year.
