At half 8 last night in Louth, temperatures were around the 1.8 degree mark according to a mercury thermometer I have. Rain was slightly sleety. This was at about 170m asl. Never saw any flakes below 130m asl.

And so it begins, colder air is moving in now :)
Temp dropping in most stations as the morning goes on.

Woke up this morning and everything was white, turns out its only hail but still, a nice surprise and the first time I've seen the place white so far. We had a heavy shower that lasted half an hour just there and its taking its time to melt so still all white out.

Took a pic but my phone wont connect to the laptop for some reason

Where did you get that from, IWN network actually shows a constant rise in temperatures for most of the stations? Kilkenny and Ashford are the only stations where the temp has recently fallen.

    Snow shower :D

Only 70m asl and not far from the coast so you can definitely expect some snow further inland I'd guess

    Here's the pic from earlier..

Just looking at the radar sequence lads.

Is it just me or have the streamers in the Irish sea just recently started to swing to a more NE direction ?

Is this the kind of shift that is needed for the East coast to start getting peppered with snow showers ?

I thought so too, wind at M2 briefly went NNE but at 1100 is back to NW.

Shower of sleet which turned to wet snow just now, temps are definitely dropping. Based in Ballina, Co.Mayo at 15m close to sea...Nephin Mountain which is between Castlebar & Ballina had a covering of snow from about 500m upwards.
