I'm a big fan of their Hell's Gate lager.

There's fierce potential in Nicholas' Street I think.

Named after the old Bedford Hospital which was on that street.

Or is it named after the Street itself. Bedford Row

The street is named after John Russell, 4th Duke of Bedford who was Lord Lieutenant of Ireland from 1757 to 1761.

Sorry, my mistake. I thought the street was named after the hospital, but it seems to be the other way around.

Work going on in the corner unit two doors up from the Triple Crown on Athlunkard St. New shop front.

Old front had only recently been painted as part of a street clean up.

    EDIT:

    It's a chipper.

All three adjoining shops bought by same Chinese owners. They will transform the street.

Think the family that had the triple crown opened as a cafe are also opening them, they own that 3 storey house on the Island rd.

    That'll be The UnderDog.

Any more information as to what "The UnderDog" is or should we just guess?

It's a vegan restaurant by Kevin kiely Jnr whom was formerly involved with The Old Fire Station. Looks like it will be a really cool space with plans for movie nights, early morning yoga and lots of other plans for it too.

Sounds cool, although I'd say this new venture will really eat into (pardon the pun) The Old Fires Station's market. I wouldn't have thought that the demand for vegan offerings was that great in the city..

How come he left the Old Fire Station? Are there rumblings of discontent on the vegan scene in Limerick now also? 😲

Think the opening of the firehouse was a nail in the coffin to the place that use to be opposite the Hunt museum. Will be curious as to whether the cycle repeats itself.

I predict a gourmet burger and hot dog war followed by a Shake war followed by a crepe war.
This is going to get messy

I think the plan for The UnderDog is to have a more holistic approach to health than the Old Fire Station. Runs, yoga, meditation, movie nights, etc, the scale of which wasn't possible in the original location.
