    Mary Jo Hogan’s has opened
Restored all the old wood but useless teenage staff and very loud music that doesn’t suit an early evening vibe
5 euro for a pint of Murphy’s dad wasn’t impressed lol

New bar/cafe gone into the old Mclaughlins/ Goosers unit in Corbally - ate there today at lunchtime - diner type food, excellent. Oddly the receipt printout said Gailileo Cafe Cahir ( so presumably they are the owners?) . Good bar food menu - not just the usual , had some very good double cooked chips. Hopefully it will succeed, and last.

Looks closed passing it no menu or tiny signage

Godammit!!! You hit the nail on the head,,, having seen your comment earlier convinced the wife to come into Ma’s, it’s exactly as you described,. Homely, friendly, great crowd, we will be back!!

Decided to pop into Ma Hogans for a bevvie. Quality. A world away from Bourkes, which I didn’t like. All the old counters and features still there. Staff were very friendly.

There's a vintage clothes shop open near Milanos on Harvey's Quay.
Mejana, formerly of Thomas Street (I think) have opened in the old cafe premises just a little further down. I think it used to be Crust.

It looks like Flanagans are going into the old blind pig unit on the top of Thomas street - I think they also have a restaurant in Ballina/Killaloe.

They've had the unit and signage up for @2yrs. Heres hoping they move forward with it quickly.

Went into Findlater and Co for the first time yesterday. Wow, they have done a great job on it and it's a really brilliant addition to the city. They do top-quality take away food and pizza slices that would rival La Cucina. Really impressed with it and this sort of place is exactly what Limerick needs!

Walked by it yesterday and the hoarding around it is gone and, from the outside at least, it appears to be nearing completion. Should be a good addition to the city

Flanagans Townhouse they are calling it i believe. They are advertising for bar staff for both Limerick & Killaloe so they must be close to opening

They have been working on it for 2 years so im interested to see how its gonna look.

I wasn’t too mad about the fact that all the food is cooked but cold and just heated in one of those quick subway-style toaster ovens. You also have to wait awkwardly at the counter when they should tell you to take a seat and drop it over.

I took this picture last week. Can't be long until they open. I love the sash windows.

Looks lovely. How great the Georgian buildings of the city could look if that much effort was put into them

That looks half decent - will bring some much more needed footfall up that direction and if they can use the street to put out tables even better.

Agree. Just shows what can be done to our Georgian building stock.

Cornstore prob do better for night dining
Bella is more casual and daytime with takeaway also
It’s a tough trade with very little trade outside of weekend nights although in time if they have a good standard will do well

If the food and service is good, it will do well. Look at Freddie's Bistro, it couldn't be in a more random spot and its location has never been an issue.

This is great for the whole area. Upper Thomas Street now has Cornstore, Bella Italia, Cafe Ole, The Old Firestation & The Wickham Tap (as well as the Casino :) ) ... and i think they will all benefit.

I think its a 3 story office block for the IDA....there is also planning for a filter lane in for the vistakon roundabout from the coming out of the park to the Finnegans direction. Badly needed.

Yep, the wife was in Freddies last night (Wednesday) and it was completely full. Just goes to show that people will travel and pay for a good product

Freddies is proof that the old adage "location, location, location" does not always hold true. I've often rang there a week in-advance to make a reservation, only to be told that they are fully-booked. They always seem to be very busy

Excellent news for Nicholas Street, with Treaty City Brewery opening up a new micro-brewery

That is really great news. It's a good fit for the area given the significance of Nicholas Street and King's Island in the lead up to the signing of the Treaty of Limerick in 1691. It's a very positive development for the city I think.
