An eighth Supermac's on the way if De Leadur is to be believed.

    Obesity crisis? What obesity crisis?

Does anyone cook their own dinner anymore?

Why bother when PET and his team can do it for you?

There is no obesity "crisis", just ****ty parenting. Much like the sugar tax brought in recently - sting everyone with an extra few cent on the price to compensate for the ***** who can't tell little Jacinta "no" at the checkout.

Just what the city needs! A concerning lack of activity in terms of new apartments, office accommodation or retail developments coming on stream. But sure at least there'll be another 'supermecs' to get a greasy snackbox!

Yeah, because Pat McDonagh opening multiple stores is exactly the reason for all those problems...

It's great news alright. The city is world class at attracting junk food outlets. The place is booming!

Was walking down Henry street in town yesterday and noticed new signage for the Limerick Museum. Its alongside the old Immaculate Conception church across from Apache Pizza. The signage is definitely new but im wondering how long has this museum been at this location. is it new?

It's been in the old Franciscans friary since May last year.

I'd love to go to it, but the opening times are terrible, why not open at the weekend, even just a Saturday, weekdays 9-5 only caters to schools, gives no chance for the general public to see it

It's even worse than that, they are closed at lunch time too.

I've heard from two separate people about New Look opening in the Crescent. Anyone know if there's any truth to it or just a rumour?

New Look are closing lots of stores throughout the UK including their flagship store on Oxford Street in London so I'd be surprised if they were to open in the Crescent. If they do, I'm sure we can wave goodbye to the Cruises Street branch.

Heard that! but they said Forever 21 was going in there and they dissolved their Irish store in Jervis a couple months back, so.... prob same for New Look

Seems like the expansion of the Crescent has been a real mess. Don't even know if that Selected store gets much business and the Gap Outlet is a weird one - plus that company is doing very poorly? Would make more sense if they had a concession in BT's that out there.

Looks barren from the front now, which isn't what you want when you just walk in... Passed the last day. Can't believe Subway is still the only food place there at the front? Something definitely didn't go to plan b/c I can't imagine this is what they wanted.

They've made a complete balls of it...Gap outlet is cheap tat. The selected store is dead...plus you could already get selected stuff in Mego. The other store is that awful Superdry brand, which is everywhere.

The standard of store out there is so bland and boring.

It's not gone well. They had loads of interest pre-construction, but Brexit and the general downturn in retail has put manners on that. Superdry and Selected were both already widely available in both the Crescent and City Centre, while GAP is possibly the biggest waste of space I have ever seen. New Look as a company is in dire straits so I'd be surprised if that happens. Latest I heard on the food outlets is Milano's are now the front runners to take 2 of the units. Gino's Gelato or Abra haven't happened.

Aside from the huge delays in getting it finished, they apparently made a royal balls of the new glass for the Tesco mall. Wrong size which meant a lot of it had to be wasted and re-ordered

To be honest, I think it's a poor shopping centre that has gone downhill. The new malls look great but a lot of the shops there now are just selling cheap tat. If you want to buy anything of quality clothing/footwear wise you actually have to go to town or shop online. It's handy for Zara and popping in to Argos but that's about it really. Probably the most over-rated shopping centre in the country with the rents to match :P

I wandered in earlier in the week as I had to go to Ulster Bank as I find it easier. Could do with some new jumpers etc so had a look in Gap. Great value but I don't really want a big logo emblazoned across the front so not for me. Still and all there was a good selection of everything. Don't think it is a waste of space but maybe not in the best of locations within the shopping centre. I actively try and use town rather than the Crescent and if I have the choice of a retailer with locations in both I will always choose town but to call the place a shambles is a bit unfair. There aren't many centres in the country that have the selection nor occupancy that it enjoys to be fair.

If we're talking centres that have gone down hill, that inside row in Roxboro Shopping Centre is empty bar the post office and a hair dresser.

'Back in the day' there was a doctors office, vets, carpet place, cafe.

Shops on the outside of the centre seem to be doing well though.

I remember back to when when Quinnsworth were the main tenants, before they became Crazy Prices and eventually Tesco. That internal street has never had full occupancy and was always dark, dank and dodgy. The center should have been razed to the ground and rebuilt years ago.

Maybe not rebuilt but turned into a park :) I remember going there as a kid and it's as if nothing has changed in 25 years!

Waste of space as in I would not wear any of the cheap stuff they're peddling - like you said a huge store filled with stuff with GAP plastered all over it or lines they could not sell elsewhere. GAP produces some decent clothing but you won't find any of it in that outlet store.

Never called the Crescent a shambles either, simply commented that the refurb has not gone to plan and that there is a real lack of quality in terms of the stores that are there now as opposed to what's been there down through the years. But that's modern multi-chain retail for you - cheap product for volume sales.

I found it has a very good range and a lot of similar items to the ons in Cork.
