Might get one, sick of the poor sound quality of my current mic (to be fair it was only €7) and the many times I accidentally send it flying behind my desk. (also, I have at one point owned all 3 of those headphones in that review, only ones I have left are the Superlux HD668Bs as my PortaPros broke and I sold on the AD700s :D)

Very very tempted to get one of them. Just dunno how well it'd mount on the thin plastic beams of the DT990s.

Decent card for the money, great cooler if itworks as well as the Vapor-X (looks similar) and its not an obese pig of a thing like the Asus DC II. Was going to suggest a MSI R7970 Lightning, but no way is it worth €60 more..

What? It looks exactly like as ASUS DCII.

It only takes up 2 slots like the vapor x, the DC2 cards are 3 slotter's & heavier cards-imo ridiculously big & heavy to have hanging off your PCI slot

And on top of that they didn't even attach them properly on a big batch of them originally, although you would hope they have addressed this issue by now.

I reckon you need to check your facts. My DCII takes up two slots.

The 7950 and 7970 DCII are most definitely three slot coolers. I'm guess that you have a 7870/7850 which are two slot versions?

Im talking about an nvidia. And, two slots as in PCIe. Why would you refer to fans as slots??

Well we were are discussing HD7970 options for VenomIreland and when I mention slots I am most certainly referring to pcie slots, of which the 7950 and 7970 versions of the ASUS DC II uses up three.

I have no idea why you think I am talking about fans.

The conversation started with discussion of the 7970. It kinda follows the when DC 2 was mentioned it was referring to a 7970 DC2.

I didn't see anyone refer to fans as slots. It's the massive cooler that makes the 7970 DC2 a triple slot GPU.

marco_polo you said "three slot coolers" not " three slot cards", maybe that's where the fan confusion arose.

    Yup.

Really? Despite me never once mentioning the word fan anywhere in any of my posts?

In any case in the link I posted there were only two fans on the cooler and the card was clearly three slots wide, so I don't see how there could be any ambiguity as to what was being are discussed.

Well I think we are are pretty well done here anyway, apart from your forthcoming apology to glynf for rudely (and incorrectly) telling him to 'check his facts'.

Yeah, waiting with baited breath here.:D

My point was I think the 7970 DCII's are ridiculously heavy to have hanging off your PCI-e slot(s). I remember reading about 6970 DCII's sagging at one end because of the weight and causing issues due to dodgy contacts.

Reminds me of another reason I love the Silverstone cases 90-degrees rotated motherboard mounting-the cards hand directly down and there is less pressure on the board.

Alright, handbags away lads. There was a misunderstanding. DCII can be both a three slot and two slot cooler. Whatever the confusion is, you all need to get over it.

Just wondering why amazon is so rarely recommended on threads here, in the process of putting together a build atm and amazon (.co.uk) consistently matches and frequently beats hardwareversand and scan in price! Amazon also has free shipping which is usually reasonably quick and you don't have to mess around with bank transfers like with hardwareversand.
    Any thoughts??
And no I don't work for amazon or anything just curious :pac:

Links? I'd be curious on this. I priced my build on HWVS, Amazon, MindFactory, Dabs, Scan, and Overclockers. HWVS was cheapest, with (I think) Mindfactory coming in second. Amazon was towards the bottom, IIRC.

The reason why I don't like full build from amazon as it can be coming from 5 million places. I prefer to have one vendor to ship all the stuff at the same time.

I often buy and recommend stuff on amazon. Just not complete builds. You run into trouble when you're trying to find good value, good quality PSUs, for example. They just have a poorer selection of many components, so even if you save a few cents, it's because you've chosen inferior parts. Very handy place to call to if you need single upgrades - homeplugs, graphics cards etc.

We're doing our part to reheat the country by using high powered computers to convert electricity into heat. It a hard job, but someone has to do it.
