well that was more fun of watercooling as a concept, not against you directly. you said feck all in that post, just that your experience with watercooling is bad.
So i made fun of watercooling, which i think is more hassle and costs a fortune, then actual benefit. ( thats just my opinion )

i see you are really upset, so ill just let the stuff you said slide, as i am pretty sure you just upset at the moment and a bit jumpy. Obviuosly your watercooling did not got the way it should go.

You actually trying to justify your post is worse than the picture, to laugh at someone else misfortune is just low

You let stuff slide? Wow what scummy thing to say

    edit

and then removing the picture because you know well what an idiotic and stupid post it was and now your trying to get out of the hole you dug your self

    Headshot,

Sorry to hear about your mobo..this Asus Motherboard P8P67 might be worth a look for €60-guy is in Galway too-think you are in Tipp so it might be handier than a trip to the east if you are stuck.

BTW I travel a good bit between Wicklow & Limerick, if you want a board collected in Dublin and dropped down its no problem either.

yea i left the CPU in. it was while i was removing the tube to put clamps on it. i had to pull up/down/left right to get it off. It was on bloody tight. ive sent off an email to Asrock to see where we stand.

You can rightly **** off tbh

What? I dont laugh from your miss fortune, i laugh from watercooling and how complicated and pain in a hole it is. When i wrote that post i did not knew what happened to YOUR water cooling project, in fact i still dont know what happened. So i dont really laugh at your miss fortune, do i?

that pic said " I KNEW IT ". so how the feck it is making laugh at you directly?!?! Chilll the **** down yourself m8.

And i am sorry, if something really went wrong with it. My apologise for the pic if it offended you directly, but i guess it wont matter now as i am a scumbag and i can **** off...

How would that bend CPU pins though? The CPU can't move at all once it's in the socket. Not saying it didn't happen or anything, just that I find it a bit weird. And they definitely weren't bent to start with or anything like that?

    Are they that badly bent?

surely if the pins are bent, there might be away to straighten them. ie using tweezers or small biro shell?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,181 ✭✭✭Serephucus

Yup, that could certainly work. As long as they're not flat or anything, you could try, then again, Tea did say "most" of them, and that's ~1,000 pins. Straightening one can take a while on its own...

The beta steam client allows you to choose where to install each individual game

    8JvaH.png

EDIT: Actually, that didn't answer your question entirely. What you can do is move the entire steam folder to whichever drive, and run it again. Close it, then drag whichever games you want on a different drive to that directory, and when you open steam again, it should show up as not being installed. THEN install each game again to the directory you've moved the game to, and verify the integrity of the files. It'll take a while if you need to shift a ton of games around, but it's the nearest thing to official you'll get

What theme is that you have on steam?

This is a decent intel guide, read somewhere else before that a 0.5mm mech drawing pencil with the lead removed is a good way of grabbing and moving the pins.

Did it myself before with an i5 750, dropped the chip sideways into the socket and the corner bent a few pins...I used a tiny (<2mm) facom flathead screwdriver and coaxed them back in line, worked fine but it was only 4-5 pins.

    How bad is the damage?

Im not sure how badly damaged it is. Hopefully tea will answer that. Be nice to see a picture too

right, so its not as bad as I said, but it is still probably terminal.

NTMK sent me a text after he saw the post, reminding me that 1155 pins are oddly bent. just checked for reference, and most of them appear to be fine. blonde moment. thanks man. still though, there are 4 badly bent, one almost flat. I'm trying to straighten them but I'm so scared of it snapping.

took some photos with my phone but its a blur. my DSLR is in the hands of the GF, ironically taking pics of an art exhibition. I'll try get pics tonight or tomorrow. til then, I'll plug on.

You're not the only blonde; I completely forgot that too. Then again, I've never actually held and 1155 motherboard, but hey.

Hope it works out. Best of luck.

straightened the pins and put it back on the bench. still getting error 55 :( technically it means memory error, but error 53 is no memory, and anyone who got 55 found a pin to be bent.

just tried to move the CPU while it was in its socket, and its rock solid. I actually don't know how the pins got bent, because the CPU doesn't push into them, it pushes onto hard plastic

tested it with known good RAM and still nothing. I'm running out of ideas now. I wonder if the board was slightly dodgy when we got it. it wouldn't OC at all really without a blue screen no matter how much voltage I put through it, and that was before even pushing the CPU in prime95.

Tried the CPU in your board?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,979 ✭✭✭Tea_Bag

    will do.

It sounds like there's something loose between the CPU and motherboard, making a weak/no connection to the circuit. Have you a spare mobo? Are you in Dublin? I have a spare PC with a 1155 mobo if you want to switch out the CPU and give it a go.

error 55 has been linked to faulty ram slots on the z77 extreme boards and a couple have reported bent pins with them new

thanks, I wish I could get a second opinion about this but I'm in Limerick.

I'm fairly certain the pins are at fault here. it almost looks like 1 is missing actually. dunno if it was a dummy to start with though and don't have another extreme4 to check it out. I can't work out how they bent though. and it wasn't 4 next to each other, it was here and there type thing

I think the board will be rma able though. its not a win cause its 2 weeks without a board, but it does 'save' €120.

I'll be making an order from HWVS soon. what are the chances mindfactory.de will offer a refund and we just get another one from HWVS? could cut down wait time.

I've made an offer on a board on adverts.ie that might not be working. if it does though I'm only €20 out of pocket and not much more down time. suggestions?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,181 ✭✭✭Serephucus

I'd imagine if you'd cause the damage, it would be fairly localised. The fact that it's not makes me think it's a factory thing.

It would be easier for them to do a refund, rather than a replacement, I'd think. If you ordered with a credit card vs. a debit card you might end up being without the money for longer than if you'd got a replacement, if that makes a difference.

Is the €20 Adverts board just for testing purposes or what?

As I said earlier, if you end up with a spare one knocking about in about 1.5 weeks time (assuming you know you'll have it by next week) I can take the spare one off you.

the pins would be right beside each other if you caused it if theyre random on the board then its highly unlikely you did it

i wish i could come down but i may have to go to the uk next week

look at your mobo socket and compare they will/should be the same

Can you compare it to the pic in the manual? Looks to me like there's one or two spots without pins.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,979 ✭✭✭Tea_Bag

it definitely looks like a broken pin. there is a hint of copper below it.

maybe it was held together on its last legs and the shaking of the PC to remove bubbles from the rad dislodged it. I dunno.

hopefully pick up the adverts board so headshot gets less down time.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 55,672 ✭✭✭✭Headshot

Tea do you think ill get RMA on that board?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,979 ✭✭✭Tea_Bag

I honestly don't know. depends how thorough they are. we've got nothing to loose. its incredible that this problem is only cropping up now.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,181 ✭✭✭Serephucus

Well now I know, when new build arrives stick everything together on air and test first. :P

What are you hoping to do with that card from adverts?

Why I ask is I dont really want the hassle of seeing windows 7 reinstalled ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,979 ✭✭✭Tea_Bag

yea. I'm kinda tempted to keep everything on air, forever.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,181 ✭✭✭Serephucus

At least you're getting valuable experience now. *shrug* Maybe it's not for everyone.

well its ultimately your choice. Its just annoying you've been without a PC for so long.
