I got into the PDE, no questions asked so I don't think it's too hard! Getting a school for placement is a bit harder! I don't know anyone who studied in Hibernia, but I would go for the University route, as teaching is a competitive enough industry and I think the PDE/Trinity qualification might look better!

    Hi there,

Congrats. Did you get into Trinity for the Sept 2013 entry or was this in a previous year? Do you know when people find out if they have an interview for Trinity? Thanks.

    Hi,

Could anyone clarify whether the PDE is a level 8 or level 9 course? :)

    Level 8.

See the bit in the box on this page for reference:

I understand how you feel. However, I have both a pde and a research masters. My masters took SUBSTANTIALLY more work than the pde. For this reason, I'm glad it's not placed at the same level as a masters.

I've a masters aswell. I'm sure I'll feel the same when/if I go do it. Did you do your masters before or after your pde?

Did the masters before the PDE. I may get shot to hell for saying this, but the amount of nonsense in the PDE is just shocking.

:pac: who's looking? yes I've heard this - its meant to be a bit unrealistic and "flowery". Where you did you do it? I'm hoping on cork.

The part time one in DCU. I guess a lot depends on the lecturers but some most of it was just torture.

Never thought of DCU :o .

As the lectures are on in the evening, it allows you to work during the day. Handy for paying off the €10K odd fees!!!

Hey do you mind me asking how much time you had to work during the week after lectures and teaching practice?

This would be a huge concern for me as I could pay for the course but I'd have to be able to support myself if I went ahead with it next year!

I did my teaching practice on a Monday (you can do your teaching practice on any day(s) you want) and worked the remaining 4 days. At the weekend I did my lesson plans and the like.

There is no denying that I found it hard to pay for fees and live but you gotta do what you gotta do!!

Ditto! Anyone advice for interview? I'm for business. Also anyone know what kind of numbers get shortlisted for interview??

    Hi folks,
I also got an interview for Trinity my subject is English, would appreciate it if anyone can advise on the kind of questions they ask. I'm a mature student so it has been a long time since I was in secondary school.....

  • Registered Users Posts: 75 ✭✭Hellywelly

    Hi

No idea what kind of questions they ask but normally they shortlist to about 3 or 4 times quota (so in theory you have about a one in four chance of getting a place if you have been called to interview)

    Best of luck !
