why is nobody saying that the reason we have such a balance sheet deficit and a lack of money to invest in job creation is those gold plated public sector pensions?

oh right, because they're the recipients of such pensions.

Keiran Allen really needs to declare his earnings if the core point of his argument continues to be "attack the rich"... Is it just me or do all the self proclaimed socialists in this country earn multiples of the average capitalists??

Even as a usual no voter in any Euro treaties, I think he is an abrasive tool, who does not help 'my' side in this argument. He could do more harm than good for the NO's media campaign in the coming weeks.

Plus, there is no need for a large panel on this, when a one v one debate with two decent speakers makes for a more intelligent radio debate.

Flanagans a joke, also no one on the no side can answer the simple question "where are we going to get the money we might (probably will) need" apart from wealthy socialists like Allen and his "redistribution of wealth" nonsense for that simple reason yes is the only sensible option.

From the ridiculous to the ridiculous.

Decent enough interview with the Mullingar openly gay councillor there, seems like a nice lady.

Shame that the rest of the show was such a mess.

This is some self congratulatory job by the Intel chap..

Michael Parkinson bemoaning the rise of the PR gurus, while it was patently obvious that Pat was working to a script and archive clips supplied by a PR guru.

"Irish people have creativity in their DNA"

oh please. Intel are high quality manufacturing, that's all. They'll follow Dell and Gateway out the door when the grants and attractive tax rate dries up. Having worked in one of those 'big name' IT companies, i've seen that most of the R&D is done in Silicon Valley. Our multinational I.T industry is mainly a collection of service centres.

This is some self congratulatory job by the Intel chap..

He wants to electronically tag all the doctors and nurses in hospitals so a controller knows where they are at all times. Apparently it boosted productivity by 50% in a hospital in the UK. Apparently he has never dealt with an Irish public service trade union.

Some hospitals in Ireland still haven't introduced Laser card facilities because new fangled technology like that would mean a work practice change which the front line staff would not agree to and worse still Mary in accounts might have to be redeployed from her 50K a year job full time opening envelopes and drinking coffee with Joan who gets 60K a year full time generating the receipts.

Best of luck introducing technology that tracks what they do every minute of the day.:D

that's fairly accurate, i knew someone who did that in a small special-needs Hospital - there were about eight of them employed to write cheques and collate the receipts at month end. Paid 50k to do such a basic job, amazing really.

Better than some obscure band hollering all the way from Studio 8, and then being interviewed for 20 minutes about their equally obscure lives......

Anyway, even though I haven't been following this particular "series" I think it's a great idea - but Mike Murphy was absolutely right and RTE has made an absolute hames of handling it. I missed the TV programme about it (I blinked), and have only heard one or two pieces on the Pat Kenny show - but there surely must be a better way of engaging the public interest?

ETA - "documentary" being repeated on Sunday - must set the auld recorder so.

What a load of old tosh that discussion on painting was......tenuous claims to say the least.
'Yeh it was political and about women, even though a major critic thought they where men in the picture Pat and had to be corrected'

    WTF?:D

Mary Kenny trying to muddy the waters looking for prurient details .... American lady lawyer & Marie Collins wiping the floor with her & showing her up as silly & uninformed

Did anyone notice Pat's gears begin to kick into overdrive when the US Immigration lawyer told him he'd qualify for an "O" visa? :)

    "America...here I come..."

Has Pat reported Paddy O'Gorman as a missing person yet? I haven't heard a segment from him in ages. Must have rubbed someone up the wrong way in a graveyard or dole queue somewhere.

So that No campaigner (some union rep I think) is hoping for an "act of faith" that there will be funding if there's a No vote - sound reasoning there, dude.

Lots of scaremongering going on from both sides - it would appear that there will be misery in the country whether we vote yes or no. Confused.com
