Looks safe enough to make it now to the weekend

T67 now, should scrape in, not too many left to finish, will need a decent round tomorrow to survive secondary cut.

A bit of good news for once. However, as 84 players made the cut on -2 or better, there will a lot of MDFs and a good round today is vital. Here's hoping.

8 pars so far. Probably needs 1 of 2 under to make it through to the final round.

Absolutely not! He's had too many days off lately. What he needs is a couple of good rounds and a few world ranking points to restore some confidence.

Throw in a missed 3' for birdie on 2, should have been 4 on the bounce. Hope he can keep it going.

This is exciting! Just catching up here and thought it was all over. But 18 wasn't 18th. Btw fair play to ya, Fore, for your positivity. Come on Padraig!

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,730 ✭✭✭abff

And a 3 putt on the 5th to put him back outside the 3rd round cut mark with 4 to play.

It's hard to watch at times.

4 more birdies and favourable conditions tomorrow morning.... You never know, he could set a target for the leaders

Edit: that bogey has probably blown his chances

Drains a monster on the last to make the secondary cut.

First time he's had a bit of luck to finish in a long time! Let this be the kick start he needs in the coming weeks! PLEASE!

Wow! 49 footer for birdie 2 on the 9th (his last hole) to put Padraig on the 3rd round cut mark. Delighted for him and I hope he can kick on with a good round tomorrow.

Hope sky / cbs shows the putt.

Don't think there's enough guys left on the course to go to -4.

Not a chance, we'd be lucky if they showed him score a hole in one, nevermind a long putt!

Cut will definitely be -3. It's currently a tie for 65th and there are only three players still on the course on -3 or worse.

    Never in doubt.

    Told yiz lads

  • Registered Users Posts: 20,818 ✭✭✭✭FixdePitchmark

I know this is all exciting.

But as a big Padraig fan - it is hard for me to watch him struggling to make cuts. And it being in an ironic way celebrated.

Out of curiosity, do you pick up any points for making the first cut but missing the second?

  • Registered Users Posts: 368 ✭✭markthespark77

    did he make the cut

For the Fedex Cup, players finishing 70th get 1 point, with 71st place getting 0.98 points, 72nd place 0.96 points and so on. This includes players who make the second round cut but end up MDF.

World ranking points depend on the strength of field, but never extend beyond 60th place (except for majors, when everyone who makes the cut gets at least 1.50 world ranking points).

    did he make the cut

Yes, he made the cut. He was one of eleven players who finished tied 64th on 3 under.

The fella never has to lift a finger again. The fact that he is out there every week, putting himself through the grinder with mc after mc, is a testament to the man.
