Is there anyway to get a player a work permit? I have two players that I signed, but they didn't get work permits straight away so I sent them out on loan. They're back at my team now but still don't have work permits.

make sure you have sent them for the amount of time needed for that country for example a south american in Spain needs two years so u'd need to loan him out twice to that country then when he has reached the amount of days he should be awaiting paper work to gain his nationally status

I am managing Celtic. The players are Kara and Eyal Golasa and I loaned them to a Belgian team, Oostende, for a season.

You'll need to loan them to Oostende for a total of 3 years then wait for the paperwork to be sorted out, you can monitor their time over in Belgium via the players 'Personal' screen. See the days to gain nationality bit at the bottom.

Suppose it depends on other factors too like expenditure but last season I had about €1m in the bank I think and my chairman wouldnt consider professional status despite me clinching my 1st IPD title.

Even in my Shamrock Rovers save, the chairman wouldnt consider professional status but like at Limerick, it was announced at the start of a season without me pestering for it.

Thanks. If I knew it would take that long I probably wouldn't have signed them. Ah well.

    what tactic do you use

Various versions of the 4-4-2 and 4-5-1/4-3-3 depending on opposition reports, quality of opposition and player fitness. I have a specialist scout (i.e. high tactical knowledge & high tactical backroom advice) for scouting the next opposition

All things being equal my preferred formation is my custom 4-1-1-3-1 but I've rarely used it in the LOI because I never really had the right players to use it

With a tear in my eye, I'm leaving Cosmos for the Championship's bottom club, Coventry City. I replace Gordon Strachan who, in his second spell at the club has left them in the midst of a relegation battle. I've sent my scout to take a look at who from Cosmos I could bring over with me.

I left Cosmos in a healthy state financially, top of the league and with the new Cosmos Stadium up and running. I've worked wonders in San Marino and now my aim is to stabilize things at the Ricoh Arena and build from there.

I play him as a Trequartista so he's more of a link-up player rather than a goalscorer, which works well between him and Forlan.
Fcuk, he just broke his ankle and will miss the rest of the season.

Playing with Torquay and have started to notice that my home form is terrible but away form is excellent. Kind of counter intuitive isn't it? Any ideas on how to rectify this?

Try taking the game to teams when you're at home. I would try to reduce the tempo, not force the players into rushed decisions( time wasting) and perhaps reduce some of the early and advanced runs form deep ( i.e wingers and attackers).I would also consider not playing on the break. This way, you play in more controlled manor, trying to stretch the opponent in a more probing way

QPR maybe? Ive seen with a few people that they get taken over (again) within a few seasons, you might even get lucky and get a sugar daddy. All you basically need for promotion first season is to buy a decent striker.

  • Registered Users Posts: 20,553 ✭✭✭✭Dempsey

    Portsmouth if yer hardcore!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 14,670 ✭✭✭✭Wolfe Tone

Yeah QPR sounds like a decent idea, lol, I'll give Pompey a miss, I imagine you get no cash.. (I just got the game was playing 08 up till now).

My first seasons are always a disaster, if I pick a team who expect promotion(like Nottm forest, who I was going to pick) I'll get sacked when I fail, happened a few times in 08 :( Second season goes well when I get everything right and some decent players.

Just found a quality striker for low league teams, im in 2012 and he cost £10k and even signed for my part-time side UCD so getting him shouldnt be a problem and had no issues with work permit got it first time. he is 28-29 at the start of the game depending on when you start has great stats and history and got an amazing report of a good scout i have.

  • Registered Users Posts: 20,553 ✭✭✭✭Dempsey

My scouts spotted him but I wouldnt be entitled to a work permit, how did you manage it?

got offered him by his agent, bid thinking i wouldnt get him or he wouldnt be interested was shocked when he granted work permit first time, maybe just look but thought it should be easy after i saw he is eligible for dutch nationality if he resides their so maybe that is taken into account and the fact his contact he was set as key player and part-time might of helped too.

i'd keep on trying to sign him, despite the fact he was thrown in to the 1st team straight away mid season he already has 4 goals and 2 assists in 6 games helped no doubt by the fact he speaks english along with plenty of other languages.

Also try get Jamil Adam if you haven't already, he has in 74 league games 47 goals and 26 assists, he single handedly dragging me up the league untill i signed Cristanio

Scouts tell me that he definitely wont get a work permit at this stage (May 2013)

Look up Tiago Cavalcanti, Brazilian with a Spanish Passport, prolific poacher

I know of Jamil Adam but he's a Bohs player and has no intention of joining Limerick

I picked Nottm Forest in the end, trying to bring Kevin Phillips in on loan for the season.

Anyone reccomend a decent left back? I have about 300k, but I would like to get a winger too.
