    I thought the alt timeline was purgatory, there is no way we sat through six years of a show just to say they were all dead.

    It was what it was, and thats entertaining for the past 6 years. Ending wasnt the greatest but it was always going to be a let down IMHO. nothing could haved lived up to what its fans wanted, there would have always been someone unhappy with the ending.

    HHHAAAHAHAHAAAHAAHAAHAHAH.

    I knew it. I said it halfway through this current season. I knew it'd be something as stupid as purgatory... that nothing would get explained and that they were all dead from the start... said it to the girlfriend ages ago.

    I said something like 'pfft... I bet it's like heaven / hell.. they're stuck in purgatory or something and the whole show never really happened... nothing will get explained and the producers will be laughing at you for allowing them to string you along with lines like 'ohhh it'll all get explained in the end I bet it will!'

    The show's been bull**** since season 1 and I'm sorry lads but no... they made it up as they went along and then had to come up with a copout idea for season 6 as they had no idea what they were doing.

    I'm not sure what to make of it. Where they dead for the whole series or just series six?

    At the moment I'm thinking it was a bit of a cop out. I'll have to think about it some more.

    I dont know where youre getting that from, the flashsideways was them all "moving on" after death as his father said "some died before him and some died after him"

    Loved the ending with Jacks eye closing as the show started with his eye opening.

    They've been doing that since season 1. It's like they were trying to come up with new 'wacky' ideas to see what they could get away with next... and you all fell for it hook line and sinker.

    yeah i suspect it was left that way, and i think its gonna be 2 camps fighting over it

    for me it was shot as though the whole thing was purgatory, and that they died in the initial plane crash - hence the last shot being the first shot

    If LOST was all a Jacob's Ladder minutes-before-dying experience for Jack, it's better than purgatory but still not original or interesting.

    They did not die all at once. The sideways is some sort of passage for the afterlife so they can meet up before they move on. They all died eventually.
