we will uphold the international image!
Your "party" really are worthy of ridicule tbh.

i'm pretty sure sinn féin have said for years that they had no links with the PIRA. dlofnep, with due respect, can you confirm?

They said no such thing, they may have said they weren't the IRA's "political wing" or whatever but they never said they didn't have links. As for Éirigi, they have no links with any armed group whatsoever.

    They're not my party..

Anyone talking about the international image being tarnished are all worthy of ridicule.

The Dáil isn't just a pile of bricks and mortar, its a physical symbol of the democratic republic in which we live, just the same as the House of Commons in the UK and the House of Representatives in the US. Breaking into it by the use of violence therefore has some very nasty symbolic overtones.

Give over, the clowns in the SWP have only one message, and thats the application of their outdated 19th century political theory to an unwilling population. These are no martyrs to the wellbeing of the country. I guess the Greek fisaco must have gotten them all agitated and mildly jealous.
While I agree with your post, I'd say the real agenda of the clowns in the SWP is that their mostly middle class trendies who get a bit of a buzz out of playing the ' radical '. Some brats become crusties and hide down holes or whatever to save the world, the cleaner ones join the SWP.

( I don't think I've ever met a working class memeber of it, most of their memebrs are in uni or joined when they were in uni )

    What was the protest about?

It was about the Greeks calling us a bunch of wooses. We'll show them!!!

Will people just grow up. Greece denies reality and their rioters kill 3 people. Riots are not good things. Apathy is. The more people who are politically motivated but who also combine that trait with willfull ignorance and a denial of reality, the more dangerous our political culture will be. Anyone involved in this 'storm' would be better off trying to get their heads round that Irish Sun article discussing X Factor and the like. You really need more circuses to keep you distracted, this constant whinging and outrage is rather tiring at this stage.

More like sky news is absolute poison and should not be trusted. RTE didn't report it cause it didn't happen.

    ok, when's the election?

i see our international image is in tatters now..
how could those ruffians let us down?

i'll make sure to wear my best edward green shoes next time a riot errupts.
Our image is not in tatters, in fact the Financial Times praised Brian Lenihan's decisive action and recommended Greece do the same.

    http://www.ft.com/cms/s/aaad9d90-52a0-11df-a192-00144feab49a,Authorised=false.html?_i_location=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.ft.com%2Fcms%2Fs%2F3%2Faaad9d90-52a0-11df-a192-00144feab49a.html%3Fnclick_check%3D1&_i_referer=&nclick_check=1

And it says we are being unfairly put in the same box as Greece when we are in a far better position because of said action. This is one of the top Newspapers in the world and can be quite anti-irish sometimes which validates this article further.

doomsayers like you are not helping the situation.

I agree, he's done a great job considering the situation.
Many people say he's flushing country down the toilet but those are just leftie socialist communists who want to continue borrowing and living beyond our means.

The Banks are now recapitalised with much needed money and soon we will see a return to moderate growth this year..

We're back to happy days again.

Yes, like watching kids play with the nuclear red button.... wonderful.

I find it hard to tell which I despise more, the corrupt, bent politicians who have cost us so much or this shower of bandwagoners with their marxist agendas who may cost us the rest.

Kids playing at politics is true, anyone who goes to that march implicitly supports the violence we all know will happen because they WANT a fight, they want to watch the country burn because they would rather try and rule a smoking shell then obey what little democracy we have left.

Some people just want to watch the world burn.

Did anyone catch Liveline today. Failed TD Terry Leyden (ie a Senator) accused Fintan O'Toole of incitement to riot, in the Retirement Home (so under privilege). Both were on Liveline and O'Toole had Leyden wrestled to the floor pretty quickly.

What positive outcome does ANYONE out there think will come of violent protest?

Anyone? I mean seriously, is there any realistic or even plausible outcome which will leave us in even a slightly better position, please explain to me how that will occur for us and didnt for say, Greece.

    None, of course.

But what will be the positive outcome from the bailouts?

There definitely has to be major cuts in government spending, but isn't it obvious FF have made absolutely no effort to do this?

Bailouts have never worked throughout history yet Ireland thinks it can change the outcome?

O'Toole is too smug at times, but the fact that Leyden wasn't man enough to repeat what he said in the chamber under 'parliamentary privilige' speaks volumes of their growing cowardice in the face of public anger and frustration!

Yes, I'm all for protest if you wish... I'm not sure its not a fools errand but thats a constitutional right but violently trying to seize the dail is idiocy and will lead nowhere good.

FFs austerity packages are the only reason we can borrow money on reasonably rates on the international markets, and the only reason why we aren't in Greeces position right now.
Bailouts have never worked throughout history yet Ireland thinks it can change the outcome?

What is your alternative? Thank God there hasn't been in a general election in the midst of this crisis, every populist idiot in the country would stand a serious chance of getting in.

I'd love to organise an anti protest protest. I'd call it 'STAY ON THE STREETS! March in aid of reality'

i'm sick of these FF hardcore commenters here as usual they use certain words to degrade you as a sovereign irish citizen when all you are doing is grasping for some justice to be accomplished in this mess. get stuck in and hard.

There's too much fraud involved with banking today.

"The only difference between a gangster and a respectable bankster ain't much.Gangsters rob banks and banks rob everyone else." -- Al Capone

We already have enough regulations, they're just not enforced, usually because our politicians are too easily corrupted.

That is naive and while thats touching we cant really afford that level of naivety.

    http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2055911944

WE need to look out for no. 1. Thats starts by keeping our head down until we can deal with FF ourselves.

That time of reckoning is coming don't you fear. What I'm saying is that we choose that time more wisely.

well many people including myself want them c*nts out now right now and we don't have the pacience to think of no.1 in singular as that will slow the ejection of these corrupt b*stards from been removed. well you seem to be a pacient person but in all regards to that i am not. we have always let things drift for a while before we act and before you know it 1 year has gone by and those same f ucking corrupt evil s*its are still there. well i can assure you there will be trouble whether you like it or not this coming week. people have just about had enough.

and you will cut off your nose to spite your face.

The rest of us can ill afford your poor impulse control mate. Sorry but its true.

I do feel sorry for all of us, im getting it in the ass too. but start thinking about whats best for you rather then simply mindless revenge.

What good will come of riots next week FOR YOU.

    get selfish, everyone else is.

Who said that because their own reports tend to be utter tripe.
