I remember they showed some of it on RTE at the time. The Stone Roses at it was one of the worst things I ever heard. Absolutely dreadful

They were essentially split up at that stage. Wasn't the original lineup either

Ok brief rant and then advice please!

I've a Samsung Smart TV (they don't deserve the word smart though) which is about 2 years old. I've recently signed up for Netflix and have been watching through my PS3 - the PS3 is noisy though (the fan) and annoying - plus it has this feckin habit of randomly signing me out of the Playstation Network mid movie or something and I have to reboot the bloody PS3 for it to work again - this happened 4 times during a film last night and I nearly fookin freaked out altogether the 4th time! For whatever reason it seems you must be signed into the Playstation Network when using Netflix on the PS3, so when it dumps me out I drop the Netflix connection. I tried to solve this by seeing if the Smart TV could run Netflix but seemingly not - the TV version I have doesn't support it.

Anyway - I'd rather not continue using the PS3 for the reasons outlined above. Any other methods that don't involve jumping through numerous hoops that will allow me enjoy the wonders of Netflix in the comfort of my living room? I have Netflix on my Macbook - anyway of streaming that to the Samsung TV?!

Edit - I've done a bit of research on Google and it sounds like investing in an Apple TV box is the way forward...

Yeah that was another thing that nearly had me blowing a fuse this morning. It occurred to me to download that and try it - kept getting an error to say there was nothing to synch with on the WIFI network, I have the TV running straight into broadband via a plug router so I think that was the issue.

Oh btw, I've lots of headphones at really reduced prices on BlocBuy in case anyone in the market

The AKG K550 down to €145 to clear, only 2 sets available... amazing set of headphones.

    https://www.blocbuy.com/504/product

The Q701 down to €229.99... [these are my headphone of choice now for home listening - very true/balanced sound reproduction, I wouldn't recommend for DJing though]

    https://www.blocbuy.com/506/product

    v-JAYS reduced from €49.99 to €29.99 - these are £39.99 on Amazon.

    https://www.blocbuy.com/72/product

That's only a selection! Oh and always happy to entertain a discount to fellow electronic music and DJs posters so if you see something else of interest drop me a pm.

Oh and these are flippin unreal for home or portable use, again not for DJing though. Seriously comfortable and great sound and noise cancelling. Only 4 left at €169.99 - they are approx €210 on Amazon.

@ Scuba: does the macbook have HDMI? On most modern lappys (Windows anyway) you'll have a HDMI port and all it takes is running a HDMI cable between the lappy and the tv. Simple stuff.

When I got the new Samsung Smart TV last summer I used the Samsung App to stream content across the network. It's a bit tricky to use, in that it's not very user friendly, but once the file loads it works fine. The work laptop I was using at the time died so I ended up getting one of these and just downloaded a sh1tload of stuff onto it and then plugged it into the tv via the usb and it works fine. The interface is a bit pants and can be slow to load but it does the job.

I was really spoiled with the Media Centre I had a good few years ago (a friend of mine is a computer geek and I was the guinea pig), it was just so simple to use.

Yeah has HDMI, just wasn't too keen on positioning the laptop by the TV and all that!

Yeah I'll have to try it again. I'm very tempted though to get the Apple TV box. Though I also want a FiiO X3 very badly at the moment, so much so that I wrote to them in China and have been appointed as a local agent :pac: This is the first DAP that has me excited in quite a while...
The FiiO X3 is the one to get if you, like me, have been waiting for a music player to take your sound to the next level. If you already own a set of killer 'phones, the X3 would be a logical upgrade, because right now it's easily the best-sounding portable music player I've heard for the money. The X3's high-resolution capabilities are nice to have, but chances are you don't have any hi-res music; the X3 will bring out the best from standard-resolution files, the stuff you have now.

Oh and Tower moving to the old Waterstones Store on Dawson St - that has me very excited about the potential... I'd love to be part of deciding that store layout! A few floors with nice side floors off some of them, old staircase etc. Great character in that place and I think could make for a really fantastic music store. They said a while ago they were considering a 2nd hand section but space was too limited... maybe they'll do that now. Plus an expansion of vinyl and overall genres would be amazing. Oh and a specialist headphone area.

What else could they do to make it fookin great?

Is it a bit of a strange move for Tower? Surely Wicklow Street would have a much higher throughput of people

Money by the looks of it. I read in one of the news articles that the current Wicklow St location has a rent of about €500k per year, Dawson St is about €250k so quite a saving. Footfall will be a lot less alright on Dawson St so they'll definitely need to be smart about the move. I hope it works out and it becomes a new and exciting shop for the dwindling number of people who still like to buy physical music etc. They do a good job at the moment in terms of variety, though they can be on the expensive side too for more niche releases.

There's a thread in the android forum about people getting it for €40 from amazon.com
