we have sold a huge amount at this price
As I said there are lots more specials on there and there will be lots more
We have limited numbers at low prices of each model, anyone who started purchase at €99 were fully delivered this price.
Keep an eye on the site as there will be constant offers
Sorry if there was any confusion

    Hi
we will have numerous specials ongoing
all our prices will change on a constant basis
we will have a special on there for €20 in the next hour, it all depends upon demand

There was no indication that your prices were "ongoing specials",
or that they'll increase by 50% once theres a demand established.

Maxroam have shot themselves in the foot here.

Why, no-one should expect a special offer to last forever....

Are these phones refurbs, 120 for a new e71 is seriously cheap

How are customers expected to know what items are on special offer and are likely to go up in price without warning? Guess?? I can't see anything indicating that these are time limited offers

This is the third time I've asked Pat.

Are these new or refurb units?

very bad business practice very short sighted if you had any sense you would bring the price back to 99 for a limited time and give people a chance... you are obviously making a loss on the samsung jet but if you were smart enough you could make it back on a different phone:eek:

Where on the website did it state "Special offer" ?

He stated it in the first page of this thread

"We have a number of special offers at present
all of these phones are never locked (no issues where in the world you use them or what SIMS you enter)"

Hmmm... I don't really understand the problem some people have here..

Buy the item at the price indicated on the site if you think it's good, don't if not..

I go into my local shop and buy a pack of digestives for €1, next week I go in and the same biscuits have gone up to €1.30 so I buy them somewhere else if I don't want to pay €1.30...

Regardless if it's a special offer or not, what's the big deal?
Online merchants change their prices all the time, look at Amazon!

Sure if I was planning on buying it and the price changed I'd be annoyed too, but prices change, what can you do.

Perhaps there could (possibly should) have been some sort of warning,by Pat on here or otherwise, considering most of the sales were prob via this thread and they were actively involved on here too.

But the fact is prices change, tough really...

The poster was asking on the website, not on this discussion forum ;)

Mise is right about the pricing strategy though - it's just good old capitalism - supply and demand. The airline industry does it often with seating tickets (if they notice people are buying more seats they can choose to raise prices).

Some people however, were making the point that (if they were making a profit on the 99 euro price) that being able to sell more phones, build up consumer trust/goodwill/reputation might be more important than the extra profit they may make from the 50% increase in price. Word of mouth is especially important these days on the online marketplace when as Mise says - people can choose to take their custom elsewhere.

On the other hand - bad reputation might hinder a start up company looking to establish itself on the commercial market. I guess the owners have weighed up the pros and cons of their actions and decided that the pros outweighs the cons in raising prices - and the market will decide if that's a good choice or not :P

He's ignored the question from me twice after coming back on responding to others.

The fact that Eglinton St. is spelled Eglington St. on the website doen't add to my confidence.

Was just about to order two of the Jets at €99 too...... The 50% price hike has soured my Maxroam experience considerably - Prefer to buy from Carphone Warehouse et al instead have never known them to mug People to this extent :(

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,365 ✭✭✭baldshin

The jet is 400 in carphone warehouse tied to o2,vodafone or 3 so its still cheap at 150,glad i ordered this mornin though!

Am also a bit concerned re. this cloud over the refurbs issue.... Seems the Jet is notorious for screen issues - There's People here on Boards on their 3rd one in 6 months.

What?? Who have Maxroam mugged exactly?? And how have they mugged them??

If the item is indeed a refurb, and hasn't been advertised as such, well then there is a legitimate reason to take issue..

If it does turn out to be a refurb there should not be a problem returning it, as nowhere in the description does it say refurb. also i'd still prob give mine a go-refurbs are still gauranteed-and i've bought loads of refurbs and never had a problem before.

I saw this bargain alert last night and was going to buy today when the postage was sorted.

Let me get this straight, they are not out of stock, you are just jacking up the price once the postage came down?

    Very bad form
