Nothing up here...heavy clouds rolling in and out and a wind that would take the feathers off hens.

Hard to believe it has come to bringing snow in to melt for water...etc etc etc.. And the coal has frozen in the sack.

    Still no thaw...

Never in all my years on an offshore Scottish island did I have to do this.

lol, my coal is the same....and beer:mad:

Bad luck; there but for the grace of God go many of us.
Broke my wrist myself 3 days ago in Galway
Ice everywhere today means only one thing, carnage

Lucky guy; I am getting too old for this kind of thing.

I came to Ireland years ago from the Far North, to get some sun on my bones before I die.

    And this!

The island was more protected by the sea and also they were ready for bad weather.

Bucketing rain here. Temp dropped slightly to 0.5c. If it gets any colder, roads would be lethal.

Very unfair really. During the Feb cold spell here, the temp was rarely below 0.5c during snowfall!

i have a funny feeling its gonna sleet here too -3.6c now warming up too quick for me and looks like were getting no snow here...... maybe decent but i think none!

  • Registered Users Posts: 32,634 ✭✭✭✭Graces7

Trying to plan to get out for supplies soon; is Monday likely to be viable? if it is possible to predict... by then the shops should be open again. I know the road is OK a mile downhill.

If another big freeze is on the way need to stock up; to avoid having to ask for help. Which would be sheerly irresponsible.

IF it doesn't dump on us tonight that is.

    Thank you....

    Happy christmas all !

Funny, that band of precip showing over south Dublin has produced absolutely nothing yet - still dry. Wicked frost this morning, but now has thawed off the cars. Driveway still not showing signs of thaw though.

Oh wait... a small bit of light rain now.

looks like the precip heading your way is very light.
    It's very heavy down here.
Were it snow,it would put a good covering.
It's probably dumping stuff on the tops of the wicklow mountains.

Wet sleet here now. Still +0.5c.

Hard to post and cook the Turkey at the same time....!

There are small generators on sale in aldi.
I'd invest in one if I were you-they are always handy to have.

D6 has been spared then so :)

Thanks; but it isn';t the electricity that concerns; multi fuelled and rely more on bottled gas and the fire .for cost.

But food and water and coal etc.

And the nearest Aldi is... Dungloe?

    yes.
    2 brothers own them.
One brother owns Lidl and the other brother owns aldi.
Anyhow-good to have a 6kw generator in case you lose power at any point.
