How they can't have Spa-Francorchamps in it is beyond me, easily the best race circuit in the world or at least my favorite.

Got myself the GT and WheelStandPro a few weeks ago, savage piece of kit. Cost me 220 in total but worth it, million timers better and more fun than a pad.

I think I'll order the wheel stand tomorrow. I rekon they're doing good business at the moment

I hope the racing line feature (which I hate in racing games) is off for multiplayer.

It takes away from the game. Fine for practicing and learning the tracks but thats it.

Do you think it gives those who use it an unfair advantage?

Asking because I'm not sure whether or not I think it takes away from the driving experience. Could be argued that it goes some way towards making up for aspects of the driving experience that don't make the transition to the virtual - such as the sense of speed and weight shifting/distribution. The judgement of distance/depth perception is also hampered without real-world binocular vision (not counting 3D solutions that some may have access to).

While you make a valid point. I think not having it on adds to the simulation. I played GT Prologue with it on and I regret it. I think there should be an option to have it on or off for everyone in a race.

Just noticed that myself aswell. That is a serious omission in all fairness. GT4 had the old RS.

Its a bit of a joke at this stage the level of cars they have left out. What also annoys me is that there are so many similar cars and only a hand full of them have interior views. Like why couldnt they just copy and paste the interior of some of the skylines or S2000's? How hard would that have been for them. Id rather see the same interior in a number of cars than none at all.

    No BMW M6
    No Audi A5, S5 or RS5
    No Aston Martin DBS
    No Merc CL63 or 65
    No VW Golf GTI mkVI

Theres a 2001 Ford Ka FFS. WTF?
Nice selection of your 'not included cars' list. Skyline this and that, jap is superior:rolleyes: Even GT4 I was glued to the German stuff.

    Cars I want:
    Your list.
    Focus RS and the RS500
    Bugatti Veyron SS
    Porsche too:(

Does anyone know can cars be downloaded?

They said new premium cars will be added as DLC

As far as Im aware there was nothing said about DLC so I wouldnt expect anything but I would like a few cars in, even the VW Scirocco, Astra OPC aint it, among a lot more, everyone has a car they would like in the game but that wasnt going to happen.

I cant wait for this game but the amout of cars that seem to be just from GT4 is shocking, there is very little "new" cars e.g. anything from 05-10.

but saying that, I just wanna play the bloody thing. 7 days :pac:

Edit : Just saw Ultimate Chin's response. Cool.

It just looks horrible, having this big digital line going around the whole track , TELLING you when to break and everything.

The tire marks on the road are fine , why can't they just stick to that?

So while I'd much rather have it off, I'd be annoyed knowing the people I'm racing have it on. Thus I'd be really happy if the on or off option was for everyone in multiplayer.

I have never owned a wheel before. I was thinking about the DFGT but then the guys at OCUK were talking about this wheel ( Porsche 911 Carrera Wheel )

It will be out next month.

The amount of whinging here is ridiculous. If you dont want it, dont buy it, but you dont you have some kind of natural entitlement for a game to be made that meets every single one of your spoilt desires.

I think for the development time and resources it has had, Gran Turismo 5 should exceed expectations, desires and whatever else. It is not as if there are a lot of game design problems to solve relative to a first-person shooter, platformer, et.c in the racing genre.

The Gran Turismo series is one of my guilty pleasures. I know that I should not like it and I should not be enjoying just driving around a circuit when other games have more freedom. Definitely not a day-one purchase, but I will be definitely picking this up at some point.

    Pretty cool, fan-made trailer:

Let down, slightly, by being overlong and pretty cheesy by the end.

Can't wait to put the M3 csl around the ring:cool:

Pity about new cool cars like the RS focus or the M3 GTS missing. Lets pray to Muhammad we can download them!

Apparently a number of shops in Europe are selling it early.

Shopto says they're getting stock tomorrow and will be processing preorders over the weekend.

I've tried signing up to shopto to put in a preorder but for some reason their registration form won't process for me :( Says I'm missing fields, and I'm not!

Where does GT fall in terms in driving realism? More than Forza? It's been a while since I played a GT game (PS2 days).

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,532 ✭✭✭WolfForager

Not sure about realism, but i'm playing Forza3 for the first time atm and i have to say it's just not indepth enough for me. Whereas GT5 let's you take control of pretty much everything, with forza i'm stuck to "pick race>autotune>race". The racing is brilliant, don't get me wrong, the career mode is just lacking though.

Forza doesn't compere imo and never did when it comes to actual driving physics.

Either way, I should also be going nuts about the lack some recent cars but I'm not and it's because we now have Ferraris and Lambo's it's because there's a fcuking 1971 Mach 1 Mustang in it!!!!!!

Sorry but that is just not true. GT4 is a PS2 release and Forza 2 and 3 are 360 releases. They are a generation ahead in terms of physics

Gran Turimso 5 Bits: 6GB Install

Wtf? I may need to upgrade my hard drive for this baby. . .

    10 Gb in total allegedly!

Apparently in photo-mode, you can walk around the tracks as if you were a photographer and stuff. Which I think is pretty cool.

Also, some interior modelling pics from photomode. I guess this is why there is "only" 200 premium cars:
