Having played the game (PS3 controller is terrible for it) and now that 800 cars are practically useless to me as I drive with an in-car view, I have to wonder will I buy this game.

It was a definite buy on launch but now I am not so sure :(

The Driving Force GT gets good reviews and is a reasonable price. The obvious downsides compared to the G27 are that it doesn't have a clutch or a H - shift gear selector (just sequential). I'm thinking of getting a Driving Force GT because, as Vegeta says, a wheel is pretty much essential for this game. There is some talk going on on the GTPlanet forum at the minute that GT 5 won't support the clutch function on the G27, so I'd make sure that that isn't true before shelling out for one.

Got myself the GT and WheelStandPro a few weeks ago, savage piece of kit. Cost me 220 in total but worth it, million timers better and more fun than a pad.

Shall have to see how the funds are doing around xmas, considering not picking this up at all if i can't afford the wheel.

Yup and a quick google of the car list brought me to this article which pretty much sums up the rant I came here to make.

Well I bought for Gt5, its good for Prologue. It was difficult to get a optimum set up for GRID but I guess thats the games fault. The force feedback is good but is only in the wheel not in the pedals.

I really like although I haven't used it as much as I would like. I don't think theres any other alternative really but I could be wrong.

The amount of whinging here is ridiculous. If you dont want it, dont buy it, but you dont you have some kind of natural entitlement for a game to be made that meets every single one of your spoilt desires.

Its not whinging its criticising and we're perfectly entitled to do it so get the hell over it!!!!!

Just noticed that myself aswell. That is a serious omission in all fairness. GT4 had the old RS.

Its a bit of a joke at this stage the level of cars they have left out. What also annoys me is that there are so many similar cars and only a hand full of them have interior views. Like why couldnt they just copy and paste the interior of some of the skylines or S2000's? How hard would that have been for them. Id rather see the same interior in a number of cars than none at all.

    No BMW M6
    No Audi A5, S5 or RS5
    No Aston Martin DBS
    No Merc CL63 or 65
    No VW Golf GTI mkVI

Theres a 2001 Ford Ka FFS. WTF?

    And a 1.4 Corsa :D

Seriously though a few cars that I would have liking to see in it would be :

    Vectra or even Insignia OPC
    RS Focus and Escort
    330d or 530d
    Any E30

I understand that its a jap made game but the amount of jap cars is mad especially of the same model e.g Skyline.

Was also hoping for a few SUVs in this game :(.

You can bet Polyphony Digital/Sony have discussed removing some of the Japanese cars from the game for fear that people would be upset at the over-representation of manufacturers from that region. There are probably a whole host of reasons why it turned out that way, not least of which could be that they, probably, have a much smoother working relation with their local manufacturers.

    Licensing restrictions, perhaps? Artistic integrity?
