Shane missed cut because he didnt hit one birdie and was six over on the day.Hovland had 6 bogeys as well but had 5 birdies, being 2 over over 2 days for the par 5s is a recipe for missing cuts when you should be 2/3 under .

Look at his results, without the bad round he'd be contending every week for tbe last month.

It's nothing to do with his swing or putting. It could be confidence, attitude or bad concentration.

It might be something he does off the course, it might be too much or too little practice. It could be his diet.

It likely isn't too difficult to fix whatever is going on.

He seems to have gone to ground since the he broke the club across his neck. Not a good look for any young fans who look up to him. He needs to grow up.

Probably need a top 15 next week to make the playoffs

Solid opening round but Scott starts better

just on SKY Shane needs top 23 finish which shoud be doable.decent start.

That's only if no one else picks up any points which is not a possible scenario.

Top 15 would likely be enough, but probably needs a top 10/11 to be sure.

yeah I thought it sounded a bit modest given how little he has moved in the past with higher finishes

Missed a few good opportunities today. He seems to be spending zero time over the ball when putting. I wonder is that to stop him changing his mind over putts or maybe keep him lose over a putt and not a stiff jerky back swing. Starting off on easy 9

just rolled in 17 foot birdie and now on par 5 so needs to score on these easier holes as danger ahead

At one stage in his round, he was inside the top 70. But he has well and truly **** the bed in the back9 and now with 2 holes to go, he's in danger of missing the cut

Had a putt for birdie on 16. Made double bogey.

Good approach on 18. Should make the cut.

obviously left himself a downhill putt and putted off the green, and then 3 putts, disaster.

reckon top 10 is required ,more hopeful than confident.

That putt on 16, wow, what was he at? You knew the second he hit it that he had hit it too hard.

Glad he got the birdie on 18, hopefully he can push on tomorrow and Sunday.

Today is nearly more important that tomorrow. Needs at least 3 under to get back into this. Can’t be leaving himself to shoot 65 or lower on Sunday. I don’t think he’s game especially flat stick is there to hit that low score. Ryder cup spot might be gone if doesn’t make the playoff bar playing events he wouldn’t have thought about playing

He is missing the playoffs bar a miracle. Not even the number of shots it’s the number of players make it virtually impossible

    Nice eagle

    Then bogies next hole

playing very consistently, that is way off the standard of the top players.3 shots behind the ryder cup captain is not a good look, his year has been blighted by not sinking his share of 10 feet or less putts and not hitting his irons as well as before. Not sure I want a clearly off form Shane playing ryder cup.

Hits a 17 foot 7 inch putt 11 foot 6 inches pass the hole. That’s bad in anyone’s book

That’s it for the pga season for him. I wonder where he’ll turn up next

Awful year for him, needs something to rejuvenate his game.

Give it a rest. The man is playing for his card. He can do what he wants.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,504 ✭✭✭dublin49

would imagine his card is ok until 2024 after Open win

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,820 ✭✭✭kowloonkev

If he gets a pick Europe must be in a desperate state altogether. He's pretty bad in match play at the best of times.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,295 ✭✭✭Trampas

He was playing to get into playoffs. Top 125 retain their card.

He hasn’t done enough for me to get a pick unless he turns up in Europe and plays extremely well.

Looking at Shane’s stats for the week at Greensboro, he hit nearly 80% of greens in reg. But the putting has gone so bad that he is heading towards the dreaded yips territory. Hope he sorts his putting out.
