Good third round from Shane gets him into the contention zone.

A peculiar feature of his season though is how often he bogeys the last !

Yeah, he bogeyed it Thursday as well.

Harrington did the same Friday ti sour a great round. Powers a fiend for it too. Maybe it's an Irish thing.

Poor start for Lowry today, 2 over for his opening holes.

Great to get back into it but to often he gets up there and then drops back. He’ll make them back but it’s all overall by the

I suppose the stats don't lie,the top players Rahm,Scheffler and especially Rory are around d top nearly every week,Shane is top 25/30 level unless he has an exceptional week so it can be frustrating when he either starts badly or falls away on day 4 ,both of which he did in Scotland ,but he really is only playing to his ranking when he does that.

I'd love to know what's going on with him. Is it concentration or confidence? It's hard to gauge what the issue is. It's like he moves on from one problem and then another crops up.

He's so talented and he's not playing like that.

someone alluded to number of times he bogeys 18,I think maybe thats because 18 can regularly be one of the hardest holes and I suspect Shane is not consistent enough on the hardest Ranking holes.

Last year he had a problem with par fives. He fixed that and now it's something else. The really bad round is the big problem now.

He's human, golf is hard, best in the world can win one week and come nowhere the next, there are no machines like Tiger anymore

Was he the #1 SG putting over the first 3 days?

Saw some stat where they had total feet of putts made and it was enormous for Shane. Harrington was well up there at that point too. They must have drained some bombs over that period. Hoping for 4x solid days out of Lowry this week.

Teeing off at 10:09 on Thursday with Rickie Fowler and Robert MacIntyre.

he got one putt from over 70 feet which is going to give your stats a false sheen .

If he managed not to have the awful round which is turning top fives and possibly wins into top twenties then it'll be very interesting. Problem is it's more likely than not that we'll see a very bad round.

bunkers on 4 5 and 6 ,not making the cut doing that.

  • Subscribers Posts: 43,185 ✭✭✭✭sydthebeat

no bother to him, out of the bunker to within 2 foot

he should make the cut, but he'd want to put in a great back 9 to have any hope of contention.

hes battling manfully but without some birdies I fear he will eventually have a few bogeys and miss by a shot or two,

    He’s just inside the cut

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,504 ✭✭✭dublin49

he is 2 outside cut now,2 birdies on par 5 's will do it but he hasnt come close to birdie all day so not looking good

His Ryder cup hopes must be in trouble also unless he hits some solid form.

Who is Bo with these days?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,504 ✭✭✭dublin49

at the moment hes outside qualifying for Fedex playoffs so might not have many more opportunities to improve.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,295 ✭✭✭Trampas

Breaking a iron shaft around his shoulders. Not down next week for pga tour. Could be a few weeks off soon. Needs to clear his head

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,899 ✭✭✭coillcam

Was with Hatton for a few events but I didn't notice him recently. I think it's the old caddy Donaghy who's back on the back with Hatton now.

Bo was just with Tyrrell on a short term basis while Donaghy was out injured. Tyrrell said Donaghy is his man full time

Bo will get a job and quickly. He came across as a great caddie when Shane won the Open. While he was carrying Hatton's bag he rose from 26 to 13 in the rankings.

Shane needs to sort things out. These awful rounds are weekly now. There's no excuse for that.

I think your last line is simplistic ,as if its in his gift to stop the bad rounds with a change of attitude.I would imagine he would do anything to improve but he has been struggling all year and I doubt theres an easy answer. The worry for any golfer looking for solutions is they take the wrong road and make things worse.

Unfortunately Shane's missed cut cost me, had a bet on him, Rory and padraig to all make the cut. Thought Padraig might be the shaky one, but Shane ultimately was the costly one.

Seems to maybe lose motivation if he's having a bad day, doesn't seem to have as much grit as some of the top guys to grind it out
