If Lowry was an average putter, he would be a top 5 player. He is top of the class nearly every week in all other stats.

Where are you getting them stats from?

His GIR and approach distance from 100 yards in are far from top of the class. I’d even say he’s not in the classroom.

The nearer he gets to the hole with previous shot the worse he gets. Maybe a confidence thing and for some it’s hard to get over that issue as not something that changes overnight before it comes back.

Yeah, he should try out that Adam Scott putter that is helping so many.

Irish golfer website saying shane not due to play again until Irish open. Can’t see him playing up north as not on the entry list at the moment. Maybe he’s go to Czech as Donald down and crans I expect him to turn up as last event. If he doesn’t turn up or any player in the hunt or wants to play Ryder cup and not playing in tour championship should be playing. If not I wouldn’t pick them

Probably needs a break as he looks frustrated.

A break would jeopardize his spot though you imagine.

Lowry among the entries for the Czech Masters in 2 weeks time.

I think even though Lowry has had a terrible year by his standards( one top ten finish all season ) he will still make the Ryder cup because there is not alot of new talent

    “He needs to grow up”

I took issue with your comment, how am I trolling? Your comment was total nonsense. Calling that out doesn’t make me a troll.

The new world rankings don’t help European tour guys make an impression on the world rankings list. Going by the list he probably still make it but I wouldn’t pick him. You couldn’t play him in foursome with his form. Just fourball and singles. He could light it up and Ryder cup could get him back on track. I can’t see Europe winning either way as just to thin after a 8 players or so. If he plays well in Czech and Switzerland I’d pick him. If not I’ll give him an assistant role

I think JT and Shane are examples of players playing sh1te that can raise their game for those few days with their RC passion. I'd like to see both next month

I agree with you! I was taking issue with the other poster who stated: "Give it a rest. The man is playing for his card. He can do what he wants." There's no justification for breaking clubs.. Lowry is hardly on the breadline..

Shane has played 1 Ryder cup and has 1 point. I know his playing partners didn’t play well at all but record books will say 1/3. He’ll get picked as Donald hasn’t much choice

I can confirm for those that think Shane has only one more year re PGA Tour exemption for winning the 2019 Open Championship at Royal Portrush, then the good news I can tell all Lowry fans is that due to the 2019-20 season being impacted by covid, the PGA Tour has given an extra year exemption for those players that won majors in 2015-19 or other elite events around that time frame up to 2020. So Lowry has two more years on the PGA Tour to look forward to at least.

And top 125 retains card so he’s far from that

New rule changes for PGA tour are a worrying development for Shane. He will not qualify for any of the 8 Signature Events in next year’s schedule unless he is in the top 30 in the World Rankings (he’s currently 32nd), gets a sponsor’s invitation (unlikely) or fulfils one of the following conditions:

    • From the most recent “swing” of Full-Field events (i.e. the tournaments between Designated events), the top five available FedExCup Points earners who are not otherwise exempt into the event

    • The top 10 available players from the current-year FedExCup standings who are not otherwise exempt into the event

    • Current-year tournament winners in events with full FedExCup point allocation (i.e. at least 500 points)

sure this is just the impact of his poor play this year, quite rightly the PGA want the best at these events, he needs to play his way in

Can’t argue with that. I was just making the point that the consequences of his recent poor form have been made more severe by the recent changes.

-4(5). Great start. Course to give you confidence

2 3 putts in a row on par 5’s for takes the wind out of his sails. A run of 5,5,5,5 which 3 are par 5’s and bogies the next with a bad tee shot to short side himself has him falling down the leaderboard.

  • Posts: 74 Nancy Young Meat

To me Shane is swinging far too steep in his backswing and narrow in his downswing. Not a recipe for good and consistent golf shots. As for the putting, he really needs to go to the long putter. His putting from shortrange in particular is too tentative and yippy.

Drops another one. Ryder cup is gone if can’t pull this back.

can’t find the short stuff on b9. His head must be spinning

A mix bag start. Penalty drop on first hole and gets away with a par. Bird 3 on next and bogey 6 then after taking 4 to get down from green side bunker

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,295 ✭✭✭Trampas

3 putt bogey and looks like he’ll need 3 birdies to make the cut on last 6 holes.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,295 ✭✭✭Trampas

Misses 6 footer on last and misses by an inch. Stroke of a player struggling with the flat stick. Trying to drop it in

he might get a pick but might not want one.No one I imagine wants to play ryder Cup when their game is in the doldrums.Hard to turn down a pick but the alternative aint great either.

+1 for 4 par 5's today is just awful. On a relatively easy course.

Sandy Lyle turned down a RC pick once. Doubt it will ever happen again. The game it is, Lowry and the likes of JT will fully believe their next shot/round/event will be a great one. If Lowry is offered a pick, he'll take it.
