Didn't want to start a new thread but I came across this article in the Guardian today whcih is both facisnating and shocking in equal measures...
Before the former American football player Dave Duerson killed himself, he asked that his brain be left to researchers studying head injuries among athletes. What it revealed shocked the scientists

    Fantastic article.

Side note: Is running back the most dangerous position to play in any field sport?

I'm in work so I haven't looked at the video yet either, probably going to avoid doing so I reckon :o

Thanks for the link some excellent information in it. I don't know if there's ever going to be a satisfactory solution to the issue of head injuries...far too many vested interests only paying lip service to it.

Sad day for the Patriots Organisation with the Death of Robert Kraft's wife Myra. Condolences to the Kraft family and R.I.P Myra. :(

Apparently the owners have ratified the new cba. Vote 31-0. Guess who abstained .... no prizes for guessing though...

It's a very strong possibility we could have training camps by next weekend. :)

Hall of Fame game cancelled :(

But new deal sorted so.... :D

The players better vote for this too now, or I'll crack. It's been a painful process to watch, glad to see it might actually be ending.

The end is in sight lads!!!!!!

New deal would be guaranteed until 2018, with an option to extend until 2021. Such a relief not to have to endure this for another 7-10 years :)

  • Registered Users Posts: 6,299 ✭✭✭spiralism

players are taking their ****ing time voting on it though and might even turn the deal down, per espn

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,096 ✭✭✭Lirange

Apparently the owners have tried to pull one on the players. Cramming things into the CBA that were not part of the agreement. Then counting on public pressure and anticipation of a deal to force the players to cave. A shady tactic from the owners if true. It would be a dishonest cynical trick that just might work because to the public the players will now look like the villains holding things up.

This was on ESPN a couple of months ago, but it's from the same series as that sensational Tebow documentary - ESPN's Year of the Quarterback. This one is called The Brady 6, and how Tom Brady fell to the 6th round of the NFL draft.

Parts 2-6 should show up in the related videos. Enjoy :)

Oh i had a good laugh at this as will anyone who reads these two articles.

Nate Jackson calls out Chris Kluwe for his comments on how Manning Brees and others were greedy douchebags.

Will Manning come out and call him an idiot kicker like he did to a teammate years ago? ;)

Will it be half as funny as the time he gave out to Donald Brown mid-play? :D

Thoroughly enjoyed that Brady documentary. Always refreshing to see his good self in action.

I don't think I'll ever recover from those 30 seconds seeing him sob :(

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,500 ✭✭✭ReacherCreature

That was odd actually. Seeing him cry. Non-Patriot fans have been giving him some serious stick for it. I've no mind with it.

Yeah looks like it could happen! Mike Vick just tweeted saying it would be an honor for Brett to be his backup. So he could learn how to mess with defenses like Favre.

Cue Vick going down in Week One, Favre going down in Week Three, all Philadelphia's money being on IR and Mike Kafka leading the Eagles to a kafkaesque 2-14 season.

Or maybe it would go really well. Favre still has injury substitutions or a half-season stretch in him, if that's all that's needed of him, but if this leads to some 'situational' bullshít and another unnecessary QB controversy, it could be a disaster.

If they get Favre, and Burress, who I'e heard might go there too, they may as well just stick a big top over the stadium. Should make for great tv at least.
