Noticed that the other day when I went to buy a bar of Lindt Orange Intense! €2.65 is a little too much for comfort. :(

Still gonna treat myself to some after my run tomorrow though.

You'd think a majority of people on this board have lactose and gluten intolerance. Anyone else like their breads, mascarpone, ricotta and full fat milk ?

i fcuking love mascarpone and ricotta mixed with peanut butter. Love milk too, with square dark choc melted in and whipped cream to top it off. Yum.

Had 2nd interview today. Was 2nd round for short listed candidates. I will find out by weeks end. Fingers crossed. Really want (and need) it. While I love been self employed freelance, id prefer to have a wage every week of a set amount. Can always continue the freelancing for an extra bit of cash on top of the job.

Fingers and toes (well, not my broken one! :p) crossed for ye.

In other exciting news, I *cannot* believe it has taken me this long to discover the nyom that is frozen raspberries melted into cinnamony-porridge. Plus they seem stupidly low in calories for about 25g worth. Win - win!

Has anybody here got any tips on how to combat sweet cravings and cravings for starchy bread? I have recently cut out all full-fat soft drinks, white bread and chocolate from my diet and a month on, although im starting to feel a bit better, the cravings are getting harder to deal with. I dont have a hugely varied diet but have been eating a lot more wholemeal products but the urge for chocolate and crisps is rising closer to the surface each day, any tips?? Thanks :)

Something that works for me is to have a cup of green tea. I know it doesn't sound like a great solution but it takes away the 'want' that I have for eating something...

I actually have 20g of chocolate every day and build it into my diet - it is a minimum of 85% cacao though - about 110 calories on average so grand as part of your daily intake imo and you don't crave it as such, because you know you can have it every day if you want.

tell you what to do....go to the shops, buy a dairy milk and a packet of king/tayto and eat them at the same time.this will make you feel like a kid again and you'll be smiling for the day!don't feel guilty.food is supposed to be enjoyed.then go back to eating healthy again for another week.
the way you're going your head will be wrecked and you might develop an unhealthy relationship with food(becoming obsessive).....having something sweet every now&again will keep you sane!
    :)

^ Thanks a million for the tips, guys, i will give the whole "have a treat at the weekend" idea a go, as im already trying to limit my intake of snacks to only the weekend, that way i wont buckle under a restriction diet and it gives me something to look forward to as well. My only issue was a sweet craving during the week, i drink between 2 and 3 cans of diet 7up a week, do you reckon this is ok or are the low-cal varieties still just as harmful, its hard to know what to believe, every day you read a contradicting headling regarding food!

well they're calorie free so you won't gain any weight by drinking them but i think it's safe to say they're not good for you.lots of artificial stuff in them.
maybe cook up your own protein bars which you could have whenever you start craving.great recipe for them on page 2(i think) of this nutrition forum.

Do you agree or disagree with the article?

    Why Counting Calories Doesn't Work

So, to get down to the basics, it's far more important to look at the source of the calories than counting them. If it wasn't, you'd be able to substitute one meal a day for a Twinkie and still shed pounds...

This tells me all I need to know about Mercola

I agree, but keep reading anyway, the idea that you need to know if you're a "carb type" or a "protein type" is entertaining

I also liked the suggestion of never to eat fish unless it has been lab tested!

Entertaining maybe, sounds like the 'blood type' diet... not relevant.

It's a long article and I can find something to disagree with on every second paragraph at least.
