Due to the all pervasive atmosphere of Shump-aphilia I have been sucked into the vortex of bullet hell and scrolling backgrounds.
    Darius II on the MD
    G-Net and loads CF Cards
    Raiden III
Trying, in vain thus far, to get a Sony TV for Tate-y goodness.

And, just now, a copy of Empire of Steel, for the MD, for less than 8 euro, posted, boxed as well...
I nearly bought Raiden for the MD, as well as Fire Shark, no rush, plenty of time before they are mine.

Not sure what the prices are like these days but Raiden DX on the PS1 is brilliant and well worth a purchase. As much as I love the first Raiden, DX is the best of the series by a long shot.

I might see if I can "procure" a copy before I dive in and spend the mortgage on it.
But, for some reason, the Raiden titles appeal more than any other Shmups.
I think it all clicked the first time I shot down one of the larger craft in Raiden II, watching it's wreckage fall to the earth, and instead of a sound effect and some points, the structures beneath were destroyed, very well done and it endeared me to the series forever after.
Well, that and the dudes running across the bridge in the first one!

Aye, try before you buy. I use a copy rather than my original. I love those little touches in the games too, although you rarely get time to appreciate them.

Just got a Dreamcast SD adapter but I've burned various copies of Dreamshell over and over but I can't get the damned discs to boot on any of my Dreamcasts.

I've tried various burners at various speeds but absolutely no dice.

I saw in this threat previously that others had gotten it working... mine gets to the Sega splash screen with Dreamshell text, the laser whirs back and forth like it's loading something and then nothing but a black screen.

    Any ideas?

anybody had any luck at the Car boots as of late? I'm sure a few more will be popping up now that winter is over.

3 Snes games on ebay. Two of which I'm embarrassed to admit not owning.

Picked a couple of nice bits off our man Steve_SI.

Egret 3 control panel with a classic Neo Geo 4 button layout. Exactly what I was looking for. Really lovely condition. I'll get this bolted onto an Atomiswave SD some day..!

And after a few years of collecting, the last piece of my Metal Slug collection. Metal Slug 5. Unfortunately at the moment, 2,X and 4 are stored in another house, so I can't get a group shot.

I also have all the NGP games, so next I may in fact try to go for a complete Metal Slug collection across all formats.

Oh and excuse the mess. This is what happens to an entertainment system when you currently don't have a games room!

This is also the first time I've had the AES out since moving into this place. Which is about 10 months! Was a bit freaked out turning it on for the first time, but it worked a treat. SNK products really are made to last.

If anyone ever needs something to store an AES in, those Japanese Super Famicom boxes work perfectly.

Oh and by the way, does anyone read Japanese? I've always wondered what it says on my Shock Troopers MVS box

I recognise that TV...you can actually hear the wood cracking under it if you listen closely :D

Nice one o1s1n, that tv is a beast! Are those Christmas tree lights around it?

P.S. I hope your PCBs don't go anywhere near that rug!

Picked up a crappy 21" Phillips tv, will see if it will do NTSC and RGB, fingers crossed when I turn it on later, in Tate position, with Raiden III in full effect!
Is there any danger of it overheating at all, I am just preempting the questions to fielded by She Who Must Be Obeyed when it's noticed!

Hah! I was a bit freaked out putting it on that entertainment unit thing but it seems to be holding up so far.

The TV is indeed a beast. The previous owner was mad to let it go ;) I'll be hanging onto it until the day it stops working. If I ever have to size down to only one television, the newer LCD tv will be going before this does.

You can kinda see the scanlines if you crop the above image down. I'll have to get a photo to the same standard as your scanline porn!

    DSC_0595-1.jpg

As for the lights, my girlfriend is a bit of a loon for white christmas lights. They're around the window as well. At night it looks pretty cool...although for ages my Wiimotes weren't working and I couldn't figure out why. Drove me mental. Then I realized :pac:

I'm paranoid as hell about that rug. The carpet too. If anything goes on it I always put down some plastic first.

Nothing exciting, but found a scart cable i could do with help with. Standard scart on one end and i was sure the other end would fit snugly into my Saturn but it doesn't quite want to fit. It has the same 10 pins, in what seem to be the exact same positions and it doesn't seem to be warped or mis-shapen, i think the outer ring is just slightly different. Any ideas 1- what it might be off and 2- if i can take a pliers to it will it be good for my Saturn?

My experience witth Philips TVs is that they are excellent quality, have at least 1 RGB wired socket and support NTSC.

By the sounds of it, it's probably for the TV-out of a PC video card, to connect the PC to the SCART of a TV. Often propriety too (one designed for an ATI card mightn't work on a Matrox or NVIDIA card).

I wouldn't plug it into anything without first determining how it's wired up. The mini-DIN wiki is a good starting point. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mini-DIN_connector.

Got this in the last hour, again no physical hold of it yet, but this is the seller's pic - an IBM PS/2

Just curious, are all those machines here in Ireland or abroad? Was just thinking the postage much cost more than the item itself if they were abroad.

They're in England but I go there every few weeks so I'll collect them while I am over.

It took me about a year to get that one at a price I was willing to pay (I think it was 75 pounds or something like that).

Almost gave in and dropped crazy money (if £75 isn't crazy enough as is!). Nobody wants to let the thing go cheap. Good reason for it though, it's a brilliant game.
