I paid a visit to CEX a few weeks ago, total waste of time, won't be going back in a hurry.

Forgot to mention in the above actually... I got Tetris on the DS, the recent one Party Deluxe one or whatever its called, for a tenner brand new in Harvey Norman. Worth keeping an eye out for as Ninty games hardly ever go down and its pretty damn good I have to say. Put it on this even for a look and played the thing for ages....

Also i'm getting into the bullet hell shumps and wondering about those cave titles you got for xbox360.
Are they region free, if so where you get em and what titles are on offer for xbox
    Cheers man

Only a select few are region free. A good start would be:

    Mushihimesama Futari
    Espgaluda II
Deathsmiles (or just get the PAL release)
Muchi Muchi Pork / Pink Sweets
    Eschatos
    Bullet Soul

There's a few to get you going but just be prepared for hefty price tags if you choose to go ahead with it. You can pick these games up at most places online but I personally prefer eBay, Yesasia or Play Asia.

There's lots more places to buy from, and if you really get in to the genre of shooters as a whole and not just Danmaku then you'll really start to delve in to the strangest, untapped corners of the Internet and come across like-minded fans with great collections and strategy tips. Enjoy. :)

    Cheers,
I've always liked shumps(ever since I bought my first megadrive with Gynoug) I just never concentrated on them.My arcade Cabs have changed that.

To be honest I prefer the old school ones with thumping soundtracks and high tech weaponry...the likes of trouble witches kinda puts me off as they are to cute and flowery...on the other hand espgaluda kicks ass.Raiden, Gigawing and anything I've played by raizing/Psikyo are what float my boat.

I float from Danmaku to Doujin to traditional and back again quite often. Mix things up a bit, keeps the genre fresh and interesting. I like to throw in some Namco Museum, Bomber Man, Ridge Racer and Puyo Puyo in there though. Nice, long series to collect and keeps game playing and collecting fun.

Great to see another gamer enjoying the shooters! You're wallet will be cursing under it's breath very soon though! :D

I look forward to the journey even if my wallet is cringing.

This is the coin mech that works on my Egret 3 and probably a good few others.

    http://www.arcadeshop.de/Coin-Mech-Coin-Mech-35-02-EUR_903.html

They also sell a 50 cent and 1 euro mech. the 50 should work fine but the 1 euro will need you to widen the coin slot a tiny bit for it to fit in, at least on my Egret 3 anyway.

I'll be grabbing the 50 cent and 1 euro mech myself anyway so will let you know how I get on.

As for the shumps question, I thing pyongyang has it covered in his post.

Danmaku defines bullet hell titles, or 'bullet curtain'.

Doujin titles are anything fan made or amateur productions. This doesn't just cover shooting games but any genre. Some good shooting doujin titles are the Touhou series, Ether Vapour, Crimzon Clover and my personal favourite RefRain: Prism Memories.

Strictly not retro related, but something I thought cool enough to warrant posting. A Startgate Atlantis prop (Wraith Stunner). A fellow boardsie over on the Stargate forums (kwalsh000) made it for me using his screen used version as a mould. Lovely work I must say, and being a huge Stargate fan...it simply had to be bought

I knew nothing about Stargate until about 8 months ago. Needed something to watch, as I'd exhausted everything else. Someone suggested SG-1...& so ensued a marathon viewing of everything SG related. It's brilliant, loads of humour in it, great sci-fi, hot girls...you know :D

Followed SG1 since it was on at 1 on the morning on Network 2, very enioyable indeed.
Stargate Atlantis was more of the same but with whole storylines recycled as well as character types.
Rogue type military type, non science lover, lots of quips... Check
    Big notofthisearth bloke... Check
    Science geek.... Check
No nonsense attractive lady type... Check

After a while I just couldn't watch Atlantis anymore, watched SG1 reruns instead.

SG Universe was some superior tv but sadly the vacuous, shallow losers who have an internet connection abandoned the show because there was no colouring in and big words and that was the end of the franchise.
There is talk of a sequel to the original movie, not sure if the tv show will even feature.

And yet you quit watching it. Hmm, interesting :p

Got this today, and a copy of Tetris for the gameboy, just to put in the box with the gameboy to complete it.

Ah resistance, the series that has simply redefined the number of shades of brown that can be used in a modern videogame.
I found the first two games to be somewhat, well, not fun....

On a brighter noted I got Starfox 3D today , very nice it is too!

Do tell, I decided to wait on it to drop a little bit in price. Definitely will pick it up at some stage.

How is the 3D in it?

A popular Nintendo game suffering a price drop? You might be waiting a while.

2nd hand? The game is 15 years old like & I already have it...I don't fancy paying Ninty full whack for it again

Even second hand the prices are ridiculous. You might get a fiver off.
