Just to retain a glimmer of hope for those on the No side, have a look at the poll on breakingnews.ie

sample size is over 1000, and at the time of posting this it's completly even between the 2 sides

Politics.ie is far far ahead with a No.;)

Meaning, there's no need to get carried away with the ''poll'' here, which I think some are.;)

Look at the how did you vote section in politics.ie. It should tell one enough.

I don't know that I am, I'm merely interested in the discrepancy between this "poll" and previous "polls"'s, and not extrapolating to a national result. Like I said I haven't even voted in this one myself (or any of the previous ones, for that matter).

P.S. Why are we quoting the word "poll" like this?

How did this 'poll' compare to politics.ie the last we were not listened to?

A poll that produces a result you don't like is a "poll". Otherwise it's just a poll.

I don't "get" this to be honest?

My family always do this, in elections too. 7 or 8 older neighbours. Pretty standard grassroots affair, not a million miles from the days of the 'Sinn Fein Bus' (I remember the 'Gus Bus' too, as a local councillor called it!)

If you're implying it was a xenophobic vote, considering I'm a committed anti-fascist, then nope. It was two fingers to an undemocratic referendum, two fingers to IBEC and their endorsement of a Treaty they feel would 'liberalise education', and two fingers to a certain CEO.

You do realise you weren't voting for Ryanair, right? Would you put your hand in a fire if Michael O'Leary and IBEC told you not to?

Were you giving two fingers to anything actually in the treaty?

Last time our prediction was within 0.2% of the actual outcome. I dont think this will be as accuracte because its not as big (I think we had about 2k people then) but we were scarily accurate.

When do polling stations close? I think we are in for a long weekend....

Big discrepancy with the how do you intend to vote poll so far, hopefully that changes soon.

The how do you intend to vote poll has been running since July, I image a large number of people will have changed their minds since then.

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,565 ✭✭✭RandomName2

Hopefully people who intend to vote no won't just give up due to the fact that they either are weighed down from the massive yes campaign or just have no confidence in their decision being respected. Hope neither side is scared into voting another way.

That makes sense, the threats from intel and pfizer I find are really what will win it for the yes side.

Last time our "What way are you GOING to vote" was accurate to a very high degree... 0.1% as I recall.

I think our exit poll was also pretty accurate. This time round I feel that Boards has had an attempt to highjack it somewhat, which we have done well to halt, but votes are votes and with a small sample size its margin of error may be larger.

I predict a 53/47 Yes outcome with my magic 8 ball.

Are the results of the 2008 polls still up somewhere?

    I voted yes.
:P to all the no-people, why don't you have that extra glass, polling stations are open until 11pm?

Indeed, and don't forget to write a little note of explanation at the bottom.
