Movie Identification (Post here if you're looking for the name of a movie)

I remember seeing this thriller/crime film and it starred an actor that's famous now (can't think who it is though, thought it was christian bale but it's not him) when they were younger. Anyway they played a rich kid who killed someone in like an alley behind a pub over drugs or something and he gets away with it but a dective tries to prove he did it.


I know it's a very rough idea but I'm hoping that someone knows what I'm talking about, it''s been driving me mad for ages.

The only movie I can think of that features some sort of weird artifact that was sending out binary signals, is Prince Of Darkness.

Canister filled with moving green liquid, can only be opened from the inside, sending out Binary Signals, Group of scientists trying to figure out what it is, h horror and pre 2000 (1987). You sure your memory isn't playing tricks with the "set in outer space" bit? (there were sci fi elements in the movie too, such as tachyon signals being beamed from the future into people's heads when they dreamed).

Give it a go, see if anything in the trailer looks familiar.

Thanks for your reply. This by no chance looks like the movie I saw. I am 99% sure it took place on a spaceship. But because I didn't watch it to the end ( it was too late in the night god damnit and I had school the next morning LOl ) I have no idea how it ended and if it was really a spaceship. OK if this helps, it was not an ice block but something to do with alien solid capsule and then it started going away and the thing inside killed them. Damn I can't really remember what else. When they decrypted the code, which the thing was transmitting, the message they got told them to run or save yourselves or something. Sorry I can't provide any more info. But I really wanna watch that movie again lol it was all dark when the thing got out and started killing everyone. And btw, it could be AFTER 2000
