Ah don't be so harsh I think he meant well, the photos are fantastic. Enniscorthy is still in the early stages, considering they only started digging last august they've done a phenomenal amount of work.

Why is the lay by going to be for Gardai only?

I see the town name is not perfectly in line with the road number, slightly higher than it should be, so half prepared for the inevitable outcry that the commonly use name for the town isnt on the motorway sign, and they can sneak in Claregalway below the Irish version of the town name!
Well spotted, I think you're right!

It's just going to be used for checkpoints, seeing as there is going to be an official online services area built near Rathmorrissey I'd imagine that trucks etc will be advised to park there.

Given that the NRA have erected decent gantries, why do they fit such tiddly roadsigns ?
They should do so to avoid cramping the text, and include "Get in Lane Now" etc. Also in many cases these need to be downlit so they cane be seen from a distance at night and in poor weather.

They are not too tiddly when you are up beside them, also they are directly above the lane you are supposed to be in, so along with the other 2 or 3 ADS at 2km and 1km, I don't think they need to clutter the sign with unnecessary information.

Do you have a real name like Michael or Karl or maybe you're a Betty?

    MOD:

This has nothing to do with the construction of the M17/M18. Please refrain from this line of questioning on this thread in future.

It's strange that they put (N19) in there for SNN. If the case, then why not (N17) or (N4) for Sligo

Also seeing as they're continuing the Junction numbers from Gort M18 on up to Tuam bypass would it have been the biggest deal to not use M17 at all?
Just let it all be M18 to coolmore roundabout

M17 is N17 in road signage terms. Cork isn't signed M8 (N8) in Port Laoise

The natural flow of the N17 is onto the N4 at Collooney, it's a multiplex. The same is not true of the N18 and N19

to go to Shannon airport you have to take M18 then turn off onto the N19 to reach the airport, hence brackets... If you stay on M18 you end up in Limerick or specifically, on the Limerick bypass. that's the rationale I think...

The M17 ends at the N17 which itself ends at the N4 Junction on outskirts of Sligo, but I take your point though

Ever wonder why - have a look @ the photo from the Tralee bypass - like that for weeks - a danger to all road users - Vlad the Impaler lives.
Castleisland bypass barrier damaged for 3 months now.

Kerry Co Co, RSA, TII among others have been informed - anyhow this is not the thread to discuss this other than their fitment in Tuam.

MOD: Please discuss the Castleisland bypass and Tralee bypass in their respective threads. The fact that the Castleisland bypass has a maintenance issue is nothing to do with the M17/M18. The Tuam bypass will be maintained by DirectRoute and they will have to repair any barrier issues as part of their contract

Brilliant snaps today m17. I won't quote the posts due to their size.
