I've the chemistry one from the list and didn't use it once. Shea's book is really good. It's all you'll need. It's a regular Leaving Certificate Course book.

Try Chapters on Parnell street for second hand books. Leaving Cert or GCSE level is fine.

Would you like some links to websites I used for the course? ;)

    Chemistry
    http://www.chemguide.co.uk/
    http://www.chemicalforums.com/index.php?action=forum

    Maths
    http://www.mathhelpforum.com/math-help/

Anthony's practise sheets will be grand. And you can also download other years practise sheets on the Adult Education Website.

    Physics
    http://www.glenbrook.k12.il.us/gbssci/Phys/Class/BBoard.html

I also used a lot of youtube tutorials from here http://www.youtube.com/user/khanacademy and here http://www.youtube.com/user/mit?blend=1&ob=4

Can't remember what I did for Biology - feckin winged it I think. :pac:

Edit: Also, don't worry too much about books, there's plenty in the library.

See I'm also a nerd, but a pretty one. Ain't that right Chet. :D

Roman and Deborah are doing civil engineering with architecture so share 90% of lectures with me this semester.

I met Luke during orientation and i've bumped into Rob a couple of times.

Where do we go to pay the fee?

  • Registered Users Posts: 35,954 ✭✭✭✭Larianne

If you've a credit card you can pay over the phone. Otherwise you have to go into the Adult Education Centre. Should be where you guys had your interviews.

it was handy, didnt really do much..except standing up and telling the class details of the interview we gave the person beside us(like a nervous wreck) and stating what skills we would need to plan a party grow turnips etc.... that was in the study skills...how did you find study skills??
The maths on the sheet wasnt explained to us yet...I'm making progress on it just need more practice...
I think we are in room B101 ,,altough they made a mistake with the rooms yesterday I'm not 100%

We had to do that interview thing, i didn't like it at all. Has Shea mentioned the 7 minute presentation yet? I wasn't half crapping myself over that when i first heard of it but by the time it came around i wasn't really bothered (still nervous!) my attitude and confidence changed as a direct result of doing that course. Forgetting what maths/chemistry/physics we done there would be no way i'd be able to face this full time college lark without those changes.

Study skills i found a little pointless at the time because the workload is relatively low (unless you're working long hours!) but now i can see how helpful it was/is. So pay attention!

Which building have they stuck you in? I hope its not a nice one like health sciences :D "Our" building, the chemisty (science south) is almost completely gutted now and not before time!

I want to go back :(

  • Registered Users Posts: 35,954 ✭✭✭✭Larianne

They gutted the Chemistry building?? Bout friggin time!!

As Chet said, it may seem pointless now doing the learning journal etc. but it really does help. I'll be off out tomorrow to buy a brand spanking new one for next week!!

Shea's the man if you need help for anything so don't be afraid to ask. Also, don't be afraid to go to the Maths Support Centre if you need to. ;)

It WILL all start to make sense eventually!!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 392 ✭✭TirNaNog.

Yeah I know abut the 7 minute thing haha..might go in drunk that day...
yeah study skills seems a bit pointless but I'm sure it will come in handy...we have maths in b101 and chemistry in science south afterwards I think..I'll be getting lost there for a while I'd say..
    hows engineering?
