Henry Shefflin is out of the AI Final with a cruciate ligament injury.... again! (he got one in the Limerick AI final in 07 too :o).

I actually feel sorry for the lad. He can't take part in the bid for 5 in a row. He must be well down :/
It could be up to 12 months before he fully recovers.
A real piece of the Kilkenny forward line will be missing on the 5 September now. No player can really replace him and do as good as job.

They did just fine without him against Cork. Kilkenny have good depth so it shouldn't be too much of a problem.

Though they'll have an "excuse" if they lose this year though.

Yea, of course they'll be grand. Sure Michael Rice will probably come onto the team now but it's King Henry like. Not starting an AI final or seeing his name on the starting 15 for it will be kinda...odd in a way.
And I doubt they'd use it as an excuse even if they lost (which I'm rather sure they won't anyways with no disrespect to Waterford or Tipp, going on each team's current form/previous matches).

Sunday evening/night he went straight to some freezing room place in Wexford. Not really sure what it is/was but they knew he was in trouble from the start :/

Theyre thinking about delaying the operation so he can come on for the last 5/10mins of the AI(on every kinda medication of course) , coz like hes Shefflin and its the possible 5 in a row, you'd want him there, but it depends if they can delay the operation.
Oh I only know this coz I have a relation in the camp btw!!

It's hard to know what difference he'd make tbh, coz there's plenty other guys ready to take his place, Richie Power was well able to rise to it against Cork(Though Kilkenny minors coulda bet Cork on Sunday) But Shefflins a leader, hes always thinking and working and then scoring, some mahn
He's a blow to 'em but it'll probs just motivate Kilkenny more tbh

Usain Bolt's gonna miss the rest of the season because of a back injury.

    http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/general/athletics/bolt-calls-halt-to-his-disappointing-season-after-back-injury-strikes-2048956.html

He's lucky with the timing of the injury.

My three bets came off today \o/ Chelsea to beat Wigan; Sligo to beat UCD; and Sevilla to beat Barcelona. Just too bad I hadn't much on the latter.

The big game on tomorrow. I don't support either team, but I actually can't wait for it.
If Tipp are on form they'll beat Waterford. And Shane's back in midfield where he belongs too so he's delighted and it's more natural to him as well like.
I think Tipp will win by a few points tbh

Should I send the "You're gonna screw it up and ruin it for your whole county, you failure" message to someone?

Waterford didn't win but I'm still happy that Tipp did. This probably makes no sense because I was gonig to be happy no matter who won.

I cant complain! I'm half Tipperary/half Waterford so I can go either way! :pac:

Waterford were pretty much out-classed today tbh.
Time for Tipp V Kilkenny Part II

"Éireoidh mé ag ceathrú chun a sé" is probably more like it.

On a sports note, I'm very thankful as a Man City fan that we managed to get an away draw out of Spurs. Just.

Tbh, Waterford only had one real forward out there - Mullane.
He was always the threat and even Tipp found it hard to control him throughout the match giving away free after free when coming in contact.
Although tbh, he was sucha drama queen. Pulling his helmet off at every oppurtunity in happiness or anger :pac:

Some players seem like totally new from when we saw them back a month or two ago. The likes of Shane McGrath has come into his own back in midfield, Conor O' Mahoney back to top form, John O' Brien scoring 6 points.
And Paul Curran, well people were pointing Tipp's full backline as a weakness. Well by god, did Curran change alot of that now. Absolutely brilliant today.

Regards the minor match, gwan the banner :) Tony Kelly and Colm Galvin were such a dominant force in midfield and podge collins was terrific also. And when cunnigham came on, he made such an impact scoring 2 points in a row from play straight away. What a sub to bring on like.
Dublin, well they came to close with the sliothar deflecting over the crossbar at the end but Costello was just pure epic on the ball. Really wonderful stuff to watch.
    Wooooo! :P

Spurs doing their utmost to throw away all the hard work they did last season, 2-0 down to Young Boys after less than 15 minutes.

Dawson was shocking for that 2nd goal...

    Result? :p

Wow, 3-0 now...Bassong at fault this time..'Arry needs to do something..Get Keane on, Pavlyuchenko never does anything, I don't know why he persists with him.

EDIT: Bassong pulls one back, going in 3-1 down at HT. And suddenly the scoreline doesn't look all that bad...the wonders of a European tie away goal..

Young boys are not a bad side at all from the looks of things. I'm pretty sure all Spurs fans where going to hammers this unknown team.

Got out of jail big time tonight but I reckon we should take them at the Lane.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,586 ✭✭✭sock puppet

Young Boys won't give it up easily though. Spurs are going to have to be prepared for a couple of their players going down

Big Dan the man retires :(

Dont care what people say, 3 all stars, 4 Munster titles, 1 National hurling league title, 1 hurler of the year speaks for itself. Also 21 championship goals, all from play.
And he is genuinely one of the nicest people ever, like I've seen him he always has time for fans going over to him or is smileing away and lil 'uns etc Hes some man!

Definitely gonna be missed not just for his hurling but for his character(and jersey kissing)

He was never the brightest spark in the world though as the incident with Sean Óg proved :pac:

  • Moderators, Education Moderators Posts: 7,853 Mod ✭✭✭✭suitcasepink

He was in the middle of a full blown game he didnt have time to try work out the scoreboard :pac:

Sure Dans interviews are always brilliant, I remember him saying some of the panel the things you'd learn from them and their "3rd level education" or in one of the league games this year during the warmup he went around and must patted each one on the shoulder(thus missing the warm up entirely :L) just as if hes the big aul experienced lad helping the younger guys..

    Aww some man, some man!!
