Right folks, I'm going to see Toy Story 3 today. I'll be off-line until fairly late tonight.

Before I go, I just want to remind ye to keep calm when discussing today's sporting action.

I know passions run high when it comes to the GAA and inter-county rivalries. But, that is no excuse for abusive posts.

Think for a second before you press the "Reply" button. Make sure there's nothing against the charter in your posts. I won't ban people for bad language if it's out of frustration, but I will ban people if they aim abusive language at others.

Anyway, sorry for being all serious! Enjoy the games this weekend :)

    Enjoy Toy Story :)
Now cmon louth boiii! (although louth really didn't need this bad start..)

Oh dear. Awful performance in the first half. It's unlikely we'll come back from this. :(

    Poor Louth.. :(

Atleast they've already scored almost 3 times what they did in the 1st half.
Is it just me or are they slower then Dublin though?
And "Paul Flynn" is scoring, this makes me laugh :P

    Sorry for the double post...

This football is bleh, I coulda gotten more scores like ffs.. :pac:
Penalty looked a bit dodgy too, but I guess coz of the **** up earlier the ref felt he had to make it up to them.

Both teams be disappointed, Cork shoulda pushed on and that kickout at the end of normal time was atrocious. And Limerick could have won that but they had some terrible wides.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 446 ✭✭msbrightside

Poor Limerick, was really hoping they would win, they have some great footballers like John Galvin.
At least they put up a show though, Sligo lost to Down by 19 points.
Ah, Sligo you seem to be going back to your old ways! :P

Back from the match, Louth were awful, if they won Leinster they could have gone down as the worst Leinster champions ever. Dublin were not that good either but Louth were pretty poor. Monaghan were also abysmal aswell. It looks like the winning runs helps the teams against the provincial finalists.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,109 ✭✭✭QueenOfLeon

Oh Sligo, talk about dramatic losing. *sigh*.....Guess we can only hope that the next time ye somehow beat Mayo and Galway before you even get to the final, ye'll keep your heads and not throw it away

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,640 ✭✭✭DylanS09

Again..seriously! It's taking the piss now at this stage like. Every year we come SO close to doing well and still lose. Limerick, if you are going to lose again, please be beaten by a good few points rather than getting my hopes up that you can actually beat a good team. Thanks...

Wow, didn't see that result. Sligo were destroyed.

Sligo, Monaghan, Louth and Limerick all lost. I wonder what they all have in common.

What county can put it up to cork and kerry, one after the other? Proud lads, proud. Mickey ned may have to go and a change of tactics needed (this whole rugby play and handpassing) but jesus, fcuk whoever thought we'd be buried in the sand by cork/kerry. That match may have been dire (like the ref!) but if you were in attendance, twas absolutely gripping stuff.

Football, used to not be a huge fan up until about 3 years ago but what a sport.

Having one bad game doesn't make them the worst team ever.

Anyway, back to a sport I've a genuine interest in. It would appear Contador sealed victory in Le Tour today, unfortunately. I was so up for Andy Schleck. He didn't do too badly today considering Time-Trials aren't his speciality, he's improving though. Hopefully next year he'll do it.

Meath / Cork will be interesting or Cork / Tyrone.

Realistically; Cork, Kerry and Tyrone are the best teams in the Country. Like it or not, Dublin are the fourth best football team and Meath, Kildare and Monaghan are decent when they show up.

I have seen Louth against Kildare, Westmeath (attended game), Meath and Dublin.

Louth got Kildare on a bad day and Louth missed alot of chances in that game.
Against Westmeath they came up against a Westmeath team who from start to finish were awful and clueless and they only won by a small margin.
Against Meath they had 14 wides and only lost by ONE point that is an achievement in itself.
Against Dublin they were terrible the first half they did nothing and typical Dublin they couldn't capitalise. If Louth had a produced that first half against Kerry they would have gone in at half time down by 25 points that's how bad that team is.

Dublin, the fourth best team in the country? No offence to you or dublin but LOL.

To be honest, that says more about their opponents than Louth themselves.

No being a prick but please tell me who you think is the fourth best football team in Ireland.

It's a hard question to answer because alot of teams are on par with each other. I just don't know what evidence there is to justify Dublin 'definitely' being fourth? Blue tinted classes much :P

    C'mon the Saffrons!!!
Best hurling team in Ulster lads, in the quarter finals, they can do it! :D

I could gladly say Limerick would be more than a match for Dublin in the football. I very much doubt Dublin would have come close to getting extra time against Cork immediately after a provincial final defeat.

And now we're onto the proper GAA sport today. Heading up soon, 'Mon the Premier!

I don't think that's the best match to judge tbf, and we all know why so I won't go into it.
Anyway, hurling quarter finals today. Gwan Galway :) I'd love if Antrim could beat Cork too, but I can't see it happening. Anyway, should be a decent day of hurling. I have high hopes for the Galway/Tipp match.

    C'MON JOE!!! :D
Please have a big game, you havnt had a big game yet :(

Galway haven't impressed me at all this year. I expect tipp to take this one by a few points if the likes of the two mahers, o mahoney, eoin kelly, mcgrath, corbett find their feet early in the match.

Whoever wins this one will have a huge advantage going in against waterford too after playing, what I'll imagine will be a tough test today.

I imagine Galway will win today, because I didn't rate Tipps performance against Offaly much. Although, in saying that, Galway haven't been having the best of years. I suppose it's a hard one to call.

Ahh now and playing a replay and extra time doesnt count as having a tough match? :pac:

If Im honest I think Waterford have a good chance against either team because both of them would go into the game thinking "Ahh shur its only Waterford" and they'd be thinking of the All Ireland final.. especially Galway tbh..
But both teams have lost to Waterford in the last 2yrs this way. Last year the quarter final Waterford and Galway, Galway threw it away. The semi in 2008 Tipp thought all they had to do was turn up and they got caught out.
And if either team win by a substantial amount then they're really not gonna think much of Waterford...

Anyhow... Head says Tipp but the heart Galway, Im still thinking of Galways league final performance tbh It was pretty good, but they've to reproduce that to win.

    Also
COME ON THE SAFFRONS!! Waterfords' Lawlor has shown yee all you need to do is manmark him completely and if he drifts from goal hes not going to score, he must be at the goal to score.
Aww really hope Antrim win <3

EDIT: Wohooo Wadding is reffing, get ready for a very biased match :P

As my dad keeps saying in my ear atm "aisake is fcukin' legend". :pac:
Dinny cahill is in my awesome list so I hope antrim can take this. Or put it up to cork.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,248 ✭✭✭Slow Show

Tbh I don't think either team is gonna go in thinking 'ah shur it's only Waterford', Waterford have proven they can be tough to beat and they're a very good team when they're on form.
Anyway, my heart says Galway obviously, but you can be sure we'll sit back at some stage in the second half as always. Our forward line is weak enough too, especially with Joe not being given an inch these days.
I dunno...I'm getting really nervous and excited. C'mon Galway!!
I wanted Antrim to win, but tbf they'd be annihilated by Kilkenny, and Cork and Kilkenny would be a much more interesting match to watch, so for the sake of it, gwan Cork! Good start anyway.

Same emmerz.. Tipp/galway having lost in the past to waterford won't take them lightly. And deise, I know the munster final is a huge boost to win too :) but just regarding these two teams after their season so far.
