True...should have changed their free-taker early on White wasnt good enough at frees tbh.

Ah in fairness he was very good for the duration of the game before the incident nothing went past him and there was no way he could have seen the ball being thrown over the line. He consulted his umpire fair enough but how the umpires didnt notice and foul is beyond me. Id blame the umpires before I would blame the referee tbh.

I'd have to disagree with you there. 8 minutes or so before the end of the match, I was criticising his decisions, for both sides. I definitely thought he was very weak, and not suitable for the occasion, as it were. Especially when things started to get edgy and he seemed to be giving knee jerk decisions.

Ah but digits..he made the decision in 2 seconds. Only consulted one of his umpires and didn't advise the players to go away while he made his decision. It was ridiculous.

@unknown, louth dominated second half. They deserved the win.

If this goes to a replay, who does everyone honestly think will win?

Meath, probably. That's irrelevant, though. I don't give a damn about losing if it's fair, it's when you're cheated that you want the replay and even if you lose it, you know it's a fair result.

Yes meath will probably win but that's hardly the point. I haven't bothered watching the hurling yet...

In fairness all the umpire had to do was say goal or no goal and he had a perfect view of it so I doubt there was a need to ask the other one. It was a quick and easy decision to make and the umpire got it wrong.

Umpire in the hurling just gave a point that went wide. I despair...

Words actually can't describe how annoyed I am about Meath winning....
Louth dominated that second half and they deserved to win!
    I can't believe it like....I'm so gutted!

Thats a big if but I would reckon Meath. Could well be a lot of suspensions too because of reactions after the game.

Highly doubt it will happen though.

It was also a square ball too digits. And when the louth players and supporters are up in arms like that, it's needed to ask two umpires. If meath feel 100% happy about this victory, I've lost all faith in gaa. :(

hopefully the hurling will be dacent now!

The GAA forum has exploded as a result of the decision.

Sure the lads in the studio said you can't blame the Meath player, they'd have done the same! Not even taking issue with that, because you do things in the heat of the moment like, he might not have been thinking or just been so focused on getting the ball over the line, but the way he celebrated immediately, the way that the commentators in the studio afterwards justified it, is a bit of a kick. :(

True mistakes were made but in the heat of the moment that happens its dissappointing to see and no doubt incidents like this will happen again but thats sport.

I would find it very funny if Louth were drawn against Cork in the qualifiers later on.

I personally don't blame joe sheridan for what happened with the goal. I just blame the ref and his umpires. Meath's first title in 9 years. Of course you'd be happy and take it. But the way it happened.... *joins give louth a replay fb group*

Had a quick look in there. The match thread locked, someone making threats to another poster, no doubt several lengthy bans.

I have no interest joining that regardless of how much I hate Meath. What happened sadly happened time to move and stop analyising it to death.

I haven't watched the hurling in detail at all. Just glances. Not that great a game either tbh.

I'm more interested in the qualifier draw afterwards to be honest. I will be watching the second half.

I'm the same! I think Waterford are winning by a point or something and I saw the point that was wide...which was given! Feckin umpires!
I'm to agitated now to watch it tbh!

It's just not the same without Tipperary there.

yea, the scoreline really says it all. Very low scoring with some silly wides from both sides.

Just saw the Louth manager talking there...I actually feel really sorry for him.. :(

He's right about the video evidence being used to punish players, as well. If they use it for one purpose, how can they justify not using it for another?

The players are devastated. As are the 25,000 Louth fans who went up, and all of us here in the county. :(

Louth manager said the ref told the umpire to "put up the flag" very bad piece of refereeing there changed my opinion of the incident now actually.
