Ok, well please make sure she gets spayed before going anywhere and contact the breeder as well. You have a responsibility to this dog to do the right thing by her.

I honestly don't need a lecture, am i doing what's right by the dog,and what's right for my son.We don't have to breeder to contact. Do you not think i would have done that already?

Why cant you contact the breeder? You havent replied about getting her spayed, this is very important.

Well unless you're actually thinking about taking belle, then please refrain from commenting anymore. I'm not here for 20 questions from someone who's less then interested and is just being a keyboard warrior. I'm not someone who got a cute puppy for Christmas and has got fed up with it, I've had Doberman's most of my life and have always been around them, re-homing her is not something I've taken lightly. This is why so many animals just get left places, anytime you try to do the right thing and re-home them you get snapped at by everyone because you've decided to do it.

I am trying to help. I gave you the details of the rescue, the one i knew about.

Its very important that she is spayed (which you still havent commented on) before she goes to her new home as some people will take advantage of her if she can be bred from.

Its amazing how many people dont even think about contacting the breeder when a situation like this arises so thats why i am asking the questions?

Also, i asked why she needs to be rehomed as people will want to know exactly why she is being rehomed before even considering this.

I am far from a key board warrior, so i take offence to that.
No animals do not get left places for this reason, they get left because of irresponsible owners and not doing enough for their pets and take the easy option most of the time, thats why.

    Hi there,
I'm wondering if anyone can help?We need to re-home our Doberman.Belle is 5 years old, around kids all the time, She however needs to be watched if the child has food as she will take it, not aggressively but none the less. She is an indoor dog, toiled trained.Re-homing her is actually the last thing i want to do, but it's something that has to be done.

    she is gorgeous!
could you try contacting your local animal shelter and seeing if they could do anything to help you re-home her? they could put her up on their sites or FaceBook pages and help you with home checks to make sure any possible homes would be suitable

Thanks Fifib, she is that alright! I will be doing that as well, just slowly going thru every option:)

I'm sure you're doing everything you can to find the right home for her but I would have to second andrea's suggestion to get her spayed, please please get her spayed, so many dogs fall into the wrong hands especially at the moment and just think for a moment of her being used as a breeding machine churning out litter after litter and then being discarded, once any potential new home realises she is spayed it will weed out any 'undesirables' (of which there are a few sadly) and greatly increase her chances of being rehomed to someone who will genuinely love her. Good luck.

    Hi all,

Looking for a home for a Golden Retriever. My brother has moved for work and cannot have the dog in his new apartment. My mum needs to be up and down to Dublin (to my grandmother) a couple of times a week and she really needs to stay overnight, but currently can't. The dog does not travel well (well, that's an understatement! She gets travel sick even on short journeys!) She is just over 2 years old and is a really lovely dog. She is micro-chipped and neutered and a little overweight. She is perfectly house trained and has never had an accident since she was a tiny pup. She was "trained" in a residential place (we have since found out this is not ideal, but didn't know this at the time!) and while she is very obedient the majority of the time and good on the lead once she gets going, she has displayed some possession aggression. The vast vast majority of the time, you can take anything off her and put your hand right into her mouth to do it. But when she decides she doesn't want to give something up (something she really shouldn't have - like things that are dangerous for her!) she can snap and growl. I am told this is easily trained out of her with the right home. Can anyone help? If we don't find the right home for this dog, there will be no option but to put her down. :( She has been around my kids (12 and 10) very regularly and absolutely adores them and has never snapped, growled or even looked crooked at either of them. If anyone is interested, we will answer any questions with absolute honesty.

    Here's a photo of her.

    Hope someone can help.

    She is currently in Durrow.

Please do not threaten to have the dog put down - emotional blackmail is all that is. So you're brother can't take her, your mum can't take her, why can't you keep her?

She's only two, why didn't you think about all eventualities before you got her? Don't you realise that when you get a dog you are responsible for that dog for the rest of its life???

Poor dog, doesn't deserve this. There is a golden retriever rescue in Ireland - I'm sure google can give you the details.

Now excuse me while I go and bang my head off a wall.

I'm afraid I can't help directly but rest assured the above is certainly not true! You can contact some rescues right now and ask them for their help in rehoming your dog. We are not allowed to post their names here in this forum but they are easily found online. There are even breed specific retriever rescues, please contact them first. Even if rescues were full to capacity, as an absolute last resort you can surrender her to a pound; note that some pounds may PTS surrendered dogs but others such as Leitrim, Dunboyne or Mullingar work with rescues who take dogs out to be fostered and rehomed.

Thanks. I have contacted a couple of rescues who were not much help. Can you PM me ones that might be helpful. I will try for breed specific rescue too and see how that goes. The thoughts of the last resort option actually makes me feel ill and my brother just can't handle the thoughts of it. We have been trying to get help rehoming her for about 6 months now as we knew my brother was going to have to move out soon, but have had no luck and hit nothing but dead ends. :(

We can't take the dog because of allergies. They did think it through before getting the dog, but guess what - circumstances have changed as a result of issues out of their control! My brother had no choice with moving and my grandmother did not plan to get ill. I am not threatening to have the dog put down as emotional blackmail - there is actually no other option. So, if you can't actually help....

I will PM you some links. Are you on Facebook, since some of them have great presence on Facebook?
It's always crazy for rescues before Christmas and immediately after. It may be a little better out there now. You can also post in the Rehoming thread here.

Why can't your brother find a place where he can have the dog with him?

He can't afford anything other than an apartment to rent and apartment is not the place for a big dog when he is working all day. Believe me, if it was an option to take her with him, he would.

I only found the re-homing thread here after I had posted this one, but thanks. There is no immediate rush, but we really need to find something for her in the next month or two as my mum is needing to spend more time in Dublin as time passes.

Thank you so so much. I contacted all the places you sent me and we are now sorted thanks to a lovely lovely lady in one of the rescue centres. Thanks again as we had run out of avenues that we could find ourselves and had hit nothing but dead ends and judgements. Thanks again.

Wow unbelievable, that was quick! I am so happy to be able to help. Looks like there are great folks out there as long as you know how to find them.

    Hey guys,
Hoping someone might be able to help me.
For the past few months I have been feeding some stray cats and kittens, there is a lot in our area. Anyways I would keep them if I could but I have 4 rescues of my own and a rescue dog and I cant afford to keep them all nor do I have the room for them. I asked for help from my local shelter and they said they can take a few of the kittens but the adult cats would be harder to rehome and after a week or so they are put to sleep if nobody will take them. I understand that shelters are awash with stray cats/dogs more than ever these days and it is harder to find homes for them.
I am based in Kerry and it breaks my heart that I cant do more for them but they need loving homes and hopefully people out there might be looking for a pet cat or know anyone that can help me.
They are completely tame at this stage, are cat litter trained and have been wormed. If anybody there could help me as to rehoming or offer any advice it would be really appreciated. Below are pics of some of them.
I should also add that if anyone is interested I can travel.

They are gorgeous. I'd recommend that you go to Feral Cats Ireland Facebook page. It isn't a rescue but a page that a lot of rescues share information with each other and the public on. They may be able to advise you on any groups that practice Trap Neuter and Return in your area. That at least would put an end to more kittens. The site is intended to help strays as well as ferals and it is the best starting point I can suggest. Well done for helping the cats, it would be wonderful if more people stopped turning a blind eye.

Don't let them go to a shelter that kills there are a lot of no kill rescues in Ireland.

sorry didn't see this till now.

She's still with us, there seems to be a lot of JRT's looking for homes at the minute unfortunately.

we are hoping to get some training for her to help socialise her, she has calmed down a little, but has her moments which I'm sure are linked to her past. She went to bite a girl today when she went to pet her, so I need to get that sorted out by training if possible as it looks like we will have to be keeping her.

does tara still need a home

    Hey,

I would love to take a kitten from you, I have a 6 month old female already and I've been thinking of getting her a companion.

The big problem, however, is that I'm quite far from you (in Dublin). I know its a long shot, but when you say that you can travel, would it be that far? :p

I will have 4 kittens for rehoming soon, they are a week and. 2 days old now, 3 tabbies and one black and white. They are being bottle fed by a fosterer so I would imagine they will be very good with people, and the foster has kids and cats so will be well socialised!! Limerick/Clare/Tipperary area, will be available in 5 weeks but am taking names now so pm me if you are interested!!

Edit: black and white kitten will have to be placed in an indoor only home due to a disability, pm for more info

Are they not a bit young to be rehomed at six weeks? They should be eight weeks at least and have their first vaccination
